This area draws birds with its excellent resting and feeding opportunities, provided by its varied landscape and its location on the birds' migratory route.

Both the Reedbed Tower and the White Tower offer a magnificent view of the reedbed, meadows, shrubs, and the sea. With binoculars, you can see seagulls, various ducks, oystercatchers, and even western marsh harriers.Fresh winds, open expanses, and the sweet but sorrowful cry of seagulls – the walking paths of Northern Tallinn take you on an exploration trip to the only bird protection area of the city.

Here, only a few kilometers from the noisy city, you can wander on the empty beaches and the secret trails of ornithology enthusiasts, have a picnic on a windy coastal meadow, and meditate by the blue sea that stretches to the horizon.

What To Expect

Paljassaare Special Conservation Area

The activity starts from Balti Jaam - Central railway station (can be changed), from there we will take a bus to Paljassaare. The bus ticket costs 2eur for adult. The bus ride takes around 25 minutes. From there we will walk around the area. Please bring shoes that can get wet in case there will be flood on one part of the road. When arrived to Paljassaare, we will go to the Katariina Pier for photos - walk along on the public beach. From there, we will go to the old stable and walk along boardwalk heading towards White Tower, where will be a also a watch tower to make photos or have a break. After that, will head towards the most northern part of Tallinn. Heading back on the same road, we will turn to the western side of Paljassaare where will be more nature.
