A unique Bolivian cooking class with cocktail making experience in the heart of the beautiful white city of Sucre. Bolivia is fast becoming a gastronomic hot-spot with its abundance of local Bolivian dishes and their distinct flavours which sets it apart from the rest of the world.

At La Boca del Sapo we are passionate about the Bolivian food scene and want to share our passion for Bolivian food with like minded travellers.

Through our interactive cooking classes travellers not only gain the skills to recreate a traditional Bolivian dish for friends and family at home, they get to know the local ingredients and their significance to the Bolivian people.

At La Boca del Sapo we believe that culture and tradition is at the heart of Bolivian food. Our concept is that you not only enjoy cooking and eating the delicious food we make, but through food you learn more about Bolivan culture and traditions, whilst making new friends!

What To Expect

A unique Bolivian cooking experience with cocktail making in the heart of the beautiful white city of Sucre. In this interactive half day cookery class local chef Moisés will teach you the art of preparing a delicious 3 course meal and a Bolivian hot sauce whilst learning about local ingredients and traditional cooking methods such as the Batan. Shake up your very own cocktail using Bolivian spirits and seasonal fruits as demonstrated by chef Moises. Under 18s and non-drinkers make a mocktail. Finish off the experience by dining together in the company of the chef and receive a recipe of the main dish to recreate it for friends and family! With prior notice we can adapt certain recipes to accommodate dietary requirements including vegetarian and vegan. Example main dishes include Picante de Pollo, Cazuela de Maní, Papas Rellenas or Mondongo Chuquisaqueño.

Succulent purslane shoots served on a selection of baby Bolivian potatoes with Creole cheese and lemon dressing.

    We really enjoyed this experience. Moises was a great chef and guided the class well. The food was tasty and we learnt a lot about native ingredients and traditional ways of cooking in Bolivia. We had a lovely group and swapped travel stories which was nice. It was our first time taking a cooking class and we really enjoyed the experience.

    This was definitely a fun way to spend and afternoon! Moises is obviously serious about the craft of cooking. He explained the recipe that we made (sopa de mani) really well. This is a hands on class_- we were right in there cutting, stirring, pouring…it was great fun! We had a taste of a local spicy liquor and later made a cocktail with singani and fruits. After the cooking was done, we had a wonderful meal accompanied by Charlie, the cutest cocker spaniel ever! My only wish is that we got a copy of the recipe at the end!

    We didn't know what to expect but we were really pleased with the experience. Moi was very passionate and skilled in his cooking. The food was fun to prepare and lovely to eat. We found it cheaper to book directly rather than through an agency.

    The cooking class was great and the food tasted excellent. A great deal of care is taken to ensure the hygiene and quality of the products. The chef presents the ingredients and their origin in detail! It was a very nice experience to get to know Bolivian cuisine in this way. I recommend anyone who enjoys cooking to attend this cooking class.

    This is not just a cookery class - you learn about Bolivian culture too - very interesting. Great fun cooking and food (and cocktail) delicious. It is a full three hours including eating. Kitchen and equipment spotless. Some necessary preparation is done before your arrival . Would highly recommend.

    Moises ran a perfect cooking class that incorporated an introduction to the culture, history and culinary flavors of Bolivia. We made a delectable peanut soup, which is a local favorite and MUCH better than it might sound to a non-Bolivian. There was also a fresh hot sauce we made and then…the cocktails! Take this class and enjoy a lovely evening with a man passionate about a he food of his culture.

    Great cooking class! Moi had everything perfectly prepared and the class was very well organized. We learned a lot about Bolivian food and also about the economy, which was very interesting! The food we cooked was delicious and we really felt the passion Moi has for his job! I would definitely recommend taking a cooking class with la boca del sapo.

    Loved the cooking class! Fun, hands-on, and delicious! The instructor explained everything clearly and more! And the food turned out amazing. Can’t wait to try this at home. The chef (&his dog) have big plans to open a restaurant. I also loved to hear this plans. Great cultural experience – highly recommend!
