We will introduce you to the authentic traditional Namibian meals that are prepared and eaten on a daily basis. We will start to teach you how to make the staple food "pap" - a porridge made from Mahangu. During the preparations you will learn about farming and storage of Mahangu. In addition, we will prepare not only classic beef on a "braai" (=BBQ) but adventurous guest can try various delicacies such as goat head (known as "Smilie") or Mopane worms. For vegatarian guests we can prepare local spinach and Marula fruits. Most important you will meet Namibians in their homes and will be able to exchange stories over some local beers and traditional drinks. My wife and I were looking for something real to do before our flight home. We booked a cooking experience and when we met lyaloo we were instantly happy. We had a great experience cooking and eating the local cuisine. We made Pap, Pork Knuckles, Tripe, Kingfish, Spinach and Moala worms. The time allowed was adequate but if you want to stay for a drink and an hour or two. Really friendly and very real.

We are incredibly positively surprised at the way we were received. Such a different way of preparing, the food itself, the way you eat. Really incredible. We encourage everyone to take up this “challenge”. It is full evening but can of course also be done in the afternoon.

We did traditional cooking with Desmond and it was very interesting to see how the local food is prepared. We were allowed to cook. There was chicken, spinach porridge and mopane worms. It tasted good.
