The ride to the Uzbek-Tajik border will take approximately 1 hour. 3. Border Crossing At the border, you will exit the vehicle and proceed to cross on foot. The crossing process generally takes about 30–45 minutes, depending on the queue. If you attempt to cross with a car, expect significant delays (over 2 hours). Ensure you have your documents ready for customs and passport control. 4. Pickup on the Tajik Side After crossing the border, a second driver will be waiting for you with a sign displaying your name for easy identification. He will assist you with your luggage and begin the journey toward Dushanbe. 5. The Drive to Dushanbe The drive to Dushanbe takes approximately 6 hours. The route is primarily direct, but the driver can take a scenic detour to Iskanderkul, one of Tajikistan's most picturesque mountain lakes, if you’re interested. This optional stop will add a few hours to your journey but is well worth the visit. 6. Arrival in Dushanbe You will be dropped off at your desired location in Dushanbe, such as your hotel or a specific address. If you need any assistance upon arrival, the driver will gladly help. This service ensures a smooth and comfortable journey between Samarkand and Dushanbe, with flexibility for scenic stops along the way. 5.00Fantastic overland transfer from Dushanbe to Samarkand. Journey took six hours, door to door, including the border crossing. Very smooth and efficient journey and process. My drivers Madhi from Dushanbe to the Uzbek border and Sharom from the border to my Samarkand hotel were excellent - friendly, safe drivers. Incredible scenery along the route. Highly recommended.

5.00My 15 year old son and I had a fine experience with this transfer. Prompt pick up and smooth drop off at the border. The driver sent a photo to the pick up car in Tajikistan to help with the transfer. It took about 45 -55 minutes to go through customs, then it was about 6 hours to Dushanbe. The driver and his brother were very friendly, and he could tell us some things about different sites with his limited English. Super kind and we felt completely safe on the trip for both rides. The drive on the Tajikistan side was absolutely beautiful- glad I chose to take the drive then fly. If I was feeling a bit better I would have added the 3 hour free detour to the must see Iskandarkul.
