What To Expect
Take a local bus through the backroads of the Dublin foothills to a remote mountain village. Following a meandering mountain path, visit an ancient burial "wedge" tomb from the second millennium B.C. Continuing along the Dublin Mountains Way, arrive at a popular vantage point and take in the panoramic views over Dublin and the bay area, perched on a mountain top rock. See the never excavated cairn tomb and triangulation pillar. Depending in the season, pause to pick some delicious wild berries, to make jam or tart later, or just eat as is! Continuing along a ridge, with views of Dublin to the north, and Wicklow to the south, arrive at a second burial tomb, this time an ancient stone circle and burial pace of the man for whom the mountain top upon which it sits is named. After a leisurely wander down a meandering path through an evergreen forest, followed by a rural back-road. Arriving at a quaint, rustic, cafe and restaurant, there is an option to enjoy a well-earned lunch made of local produce and cuisine. Alternatively, enjoy a well earned "pint" in a country pub. An Alternative bus returns back to the finish point via a different but equally enchanting route.

Great Hike with Beautiful Views!

5.00An excellent hike and guide! We were able to customize our hike to best suit our needs. We covered roughly 5-6 miles, traversing through incredible forest views with large open pines, heard of the history of the land, and hiked up to the Hell Fire Club, an old hunting lodge, with an incredible view of Dublin and the Peninsula of Howth. We made our way back down a different way, which showed us the beautiful river/creek, with an old-timed ice house and just beautiful woodsy views/vibes. It was beautiful. We finished at an incredible cafe for lunch, with the most incredible sandwiches or "toasties" as they call them. It was truly a great experience, and you shouldn't hesitate to book this! Only thing I should note for my fellow Americans: this would be rated more of a moderate hike on the American-scale. You will have to go up. You will have to climb like stairs in some places, and there is no paved road way or easy incline. Just communicate with Ben to customize the hike that's best for your crew. He was an excellent guide! Have fun!

5.00We went hiking with Ben in the Dublin mountains. It was a scenic tour. Ben not only showed us the graves and paths, but he told us many informative stories about the country, people, customs and customs in addition to the actual tour. Finally, there was a nice photo collage. I can fully recommend the tour with Ben through the Dublin mountains and would book them again anytime.

5.00We met with Ben and off we went for our 8 mile hike through the beautiful Dublin Mountains on a unusually warm day in September (80 degrees) . Ben was very imformative on many subjects from the trail horticulture and tombs and Irelands people, economy and politics. He was even kind enough to sing us an old Irish song. 5.00Husband and I are fairly active and this hike was very manageable. Approximately 8 miles. Ben's communication leading up to the hike was excellent - we knew exactly what to bring and what to expect. He also pointed out interesting facts about the vegetation and sites along the way. We highly recommend taking this excursion!

5.00We had an absolutely wonderful hike with Ben! The nature was beautiful, captivating, and very peaceful, with just the right amount of isolation from others. We loved the ancient tombs, as well as learning various things about Ireland from Ben, whether it be about the flora and fauna, or its millennium-old history. Ben did an outstanding job! If you love hiking and nature, as well as a guide that takes care of you in small groups, I strongly urge that you do this tour with him. If you're curious as to why he only has <10 reviews on TripAdvisor (for this tour specifically), it's because he gets bookings from everywhere, including his own website. Don't be put off by it - Ben's a veteran, and this tour is absolutely a hidden (but no so hidden after all) gem. Do yourself a favor, and book it now!

5.00We had very nice Hike with Ben. I was with a group of friends. The landscape and the colors were very nice this time of the year ( october). Ben picked us up at our Hotel in Dublin and went all together to Howth by bus. He was well prepared (first aid kit, trekking poles) for any inconvenience we could face. He told us about the different places and stories and at the end we got a small documentary file with a link with pictures and maps of the Hike.
