Tamchog lhakhang is temple that is dedicated to the 13th century saint Thangthong Gyalpo, the bridge builder. This temple is located across the river from the Paro to Thimphu. In order to get to the temple one must cross an iron chain bridge, one of the few remaining of the many that Thangthong Gyalpo built. This is a private temple however tourists are allowed to visit if they are given permission. Crossing this very old bridge with its swaying and undulating movements can be quite an experience. The temple's location on the ridge and the high rocky barren hills which serve as it's backdrop makes this a good location to take pictures.

Paro River

The Bhutanese word for river is "chhu," so the Paro Chhu is translated to the Paro River. The Paro Chhu starts on the South side of the 24,035 ft Mount Jomolhari flowing through mountain meadows and deep gorges before entering the Paro Valley and meandering through the town of Paro. Just downstream of Paro is a fun Class III+ section of whitewater with one portage.

Paro Taktsang

Taktsang Lhakhang is Bhutan’s most iconic landmark and religious site. The name Taktsang translates to “The Tiger’s Nest”. This temple is one of the most holy sites in the kingdom and clings impossibly to a sheer cliff face 900 meters above the Paro Valley. It was first built in 1692 at a cave where Guru Rimpoche meditated in the 7th century A.D. Legend states that Guru Rimpoche flew to the site atop the back of a tigress and meditated in the cave for 3 years, 3 months, 3 days and 3 hours in order to subdue evil demons residing within it. The cave has been considered a sacred site ever since and many famous saints have travelled to meditate in it. Taktsang Lhakhang is located approximately 10 km north of Paro town at an altitude of 3.120 m. In order to arrive at the temple visitors must trek for around 2-3 hours through beautiful, shady pine forests. No trip to Bhutan would be complete without a visit to this remarkable heritage site.

Its a fantastic trip with the reasonable package. Bhutan Maitreya Tusita Travel took care of everything from the beginning of our trip. The tour guide Pelden Dorji is fabulous. He took care of us, guided us, explained us the history of each of the places we have visited and he took care of us till the exit process. Another special thanks to our driver ( Cannot remember his name 😞), he is also a charming guy and always having a smiling face. Last but not the least thanks to Maitreya Tusita Travel for arranging such a great trip for us. Hope we will visit again and will talk to you soon 🙂🙂.

Palden & Sonam From the very first day, Palden was more than a guide — he was a storyteller, a gentle teacher, and a constant support. With his calm voice, deep knowledge, and quiet patience, he helped us understand not just the places we visited, but the spirit, culture, and soul of Bhutan. Every monastery, valley, and road felt richer because of the stories he shared and the care with which he guided us. Sonam, with his steady hands and peaceful presence, became the strength of our journey. His safe and smooth driving across Bhutan’s winding roads gave us complete comfort and confidence. Long journeys never felt tiring because of his calm nature and thoughtful care, turning travel time into moments of silence, reflection, and ease. Together, Palden and Sonam created a journey that felt balanced, safe, and deeply personal. They made us feel welcomed, understood, and at home, even in a foreign land. This journey will always be remembered not only for the beauty of Bhutan, but for the kindness, warmth, and sincerity of the people who walked with us every step of the way. 🌿

I enjoyed my trip to Bhutan. Thanks to my traveller, Guide Tshering and our driver Dema. I loved the warmth n care of both Tshering and Dema. Explaining with pride the culture of his country. I am extremely grateful for the support and encouragement Tshering gave me when we did the suspension bridge n the climbing up n down to Tiger's Nest... Made it half way to the Cafe n all thanks to Tshering. The Hot Stone Spa after the climb was very relaxing. Another memorable highlight was d karaoke singing at the Brewery where we had the place to ourselves fortunately. There was a spiritual feel with Tshering chanting during our prayer flag, candle lighting n even when he held my hand helping me climb down cautiously. Thank You Tshering All in all - a good time, connects for life and cherish able moments to treasure 💗

  • More Than a Trip: A Journey of Warmth and Connection

Me and my son recently completed a 6-day trip to Bhutan, and it was an experience we will cherish for a very long time. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to our guide, Tshering, and our driver, Dema, for turning this journey into something truly special. Guide – Tshering Tshering was truly the soul of our trip. His deep knowledge of Bhutan’s culture, history, and traditions added so much meaning to every place we visited. But what touched us the most was his genuine care, patience, and kindness. He looked after us like family—always attentive, always thoughtful, and always encouraging. His warm nature and positive energy made us feel safe, motivated, and understood throughout. Travelling with Tshering felt less like being guided by a professional and more like exploring Bhutan with a dear friend. Driver – Dema Dema was equally wonderful. Calm, skilled, and incredibly considerate, she made every drive feel smooth and safe, even on the hilly roads of Bhutan. She kept the car spotless to ensuring we were always comfortable. Her gentle personality and respectful nature made us feel cared for in the nicest way possible. This trip became unforgettable because of the warmth, dedication, and sincerity of Tshering and Dema. Their presence made the experience richer, safer, and filled with moments we will always remember. We are deeply grateful to both of them, and we will wholeheartedly recommend this trip to our friends and family for their future vacations.

  • Bhutan 7N/8D trip through Thimpu- Punakha- Paro

We had visited Bhutan recently for a 7N/8D. Overall experience was exceptional including the customization of travel itinerary, hotel lists, travel guide and vehicle. Highlight of the trip was our Guide Pelden Dorji and driver Chencho who made our trip a combination of visiting the main tourist attractions and enjoying the local specialities. Guide Pelden Dorji was exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable and was very kind and more like friend rather than a guide. He helped us to try the local cuisines, enjoy the local dishes, communicate with local people. He made adjustments to our trip in such way a that we enjoyed all parts of the trip were covered in organized manner. Driver Chencho was also so kind, respectful and friendly. He helped us to buy very good local cheese in Bhutan which was one of the local speciality. Finally while departing we felt like we are leaving our closest friends. Thanks for such a wonderful experience and memories.

My trip to Bhutan was one of the most enriching travel experiences I have had and a huge part of that was thanks to our incredible guide Tshering Wangyal and our skilled driver Dema. The driver’s calm and safe driving made the journey so comfortable. Guide Tshering Wangyal impressed me from the start with his deep knowledge of Bhutan history, culture, religion, and everyday life. His storytelling made every temple, monastery come alive. He was patient and attentive, always ready to answer my endless questions with enthusiasm and a smile.

Visiting a bhutan felt like stepping into another world of peace and happiness. Bhutan is not a place , it is an experience where time slows down, montains whispers, river glistens under the sky, flags flutters along the road, monastery soothes the soal. Bhutan's greatest treasure is its people, theirs calmness, kindness and smiles fills your heart with gratitude. I respect the culture here and their care for the environment. We had a very supporting and caring guide during trip named Tshering. Who was very gentle and good narrative. we had a really great time together here. Bhutan is a country which teaches the world that " True health lies not in possession but in peace" Kadrin Chey la.
