Welcome to our Basecamp, located in the beautiful Lyngen Alps, where you can enjoy scenic views of mountains, fjords, and forests.
Spend the night in a Crystal Lavvo cabin, heated by a wood-burning fireplace for an authentic Arctic experience. Each lavvo features a glass ceiling, allowing you to keep an eye on the sky at all times.
Enjoy the freedom of having the entire night to search for the Northern Lights—whether from the warmth and coziness of your lavvo or while wandering around the basecamp. With the right conditions, you may even witness multiple “releases” throughout the night.
Suitable for all physical fitness levels
Each Crystal Lavvo accommodates up to 4 guests, with a minimum of 2 guests per lavvo. Lavvos are always private for your group and are not shared with other guests.
The lavvo portion of the experience begins after dinner and is designed as a nighttime Arctic experience. This is a unique experience rather than a traditional hotel or Airbnb stay.
Please note that this is an experience where you will need to add wood to the fireplace yourself to stay warm during the night.
Bathroom facilities are shared. There is one indoor bathroom and one traditional outhouse.
Please note that this is not a Northern Lights chase by vehicle. The entire nighttime experience takes place at the basecamp.
We can accommodate the following: vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and lactose-free options — but not in combination (e.g., gluten-free and vegan together). Please don’t forget to add this to your booking notes — we need to know in advance.
There are no shops or grocery stores nearby, so please come prepared :)
We do not sell alcohol, but you are welcome to bring your own.
We recommend bringing warm clothing suitable for Arctic conditions. Indoor slippers are also recommended for extra comfort.
Not suitable for children under 6 years old.
Not recommended for travelers with serious medical conditions, due to the remote location and limited access to immediate medical assistance.
Maximum one suitcase and one medium bag/backpack per person (due to transportation capacity).
Pickup and drop-off times in Tromsø may be affected by weather or road conditions. We recommend allowing extra time between activities and onward travel plans.
This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it is canceled due to low participation, you will be offered a full refund or an alternative date if possible.
We reserve the right to cancel this trip due to weather or safety concerns. In such cases, a full refund will be provided.
No refunds will be given if you do not arrive at the agreed pick-up location on time.
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
Tromso
Enjoy a scenic journey from Tromsø to our basecamp, including a short ferry ride and beautiful views of mountains and fjords.

You can then join a guided 2 km nature walk, either on foot or with snowshoes, and explore the surrounding Scandinavian landscape — or simply relax at basecamp. What a beautiful way to experience the northern lights and spend time in nature … while keeping warm! The hosts were wonderful; helpful, made delicious meals, and led a beautiful snowshoe hike to the Lyngen Alps. Sleeping in a laavo was a truly unique experience. Between watching for the lights and some creaking wood in the laavo (with temperature changes, we think), falling asleep was a little tricky, but it was a lovely experience nonetheless. We highly recommend!

We had so much fun! Well organized and relaxed trip, and everyone on staff was fantastic. Loved the snowshoe and the lavvvo was warm and comfortable. Plus we had clear skies and saw the aurora!

This was really unique, and we're glad to have done it, but there is definitely room for improvement. Leveling up on a couple of things could make this a truly exceptional experience. I think this is mostly meant to be an aurora viewing opportunity, and it is a perfect setting if they come out. For us it was very faint, and no one can control that, so it wasn't a problem. However, this is essentially a "B&B" situation and we wish that: 1. There would have been even just two options for lunch and dinner. To assume that everyone will love fish soup for lunch or meatballs for dinner is a big swing. The person making the food was really sweet and seems to really love cooking, but could use some additional training (I say this as a college culinary instructor of 15 years- just saying there's potential!). 2. The snowshoeing was really fun, but quick. Afterward there was a very weird and awkward three hours of time where we couldn't get into our accommodation and had to hang out in the common space in the house. It would have been nice to have some other options or things to keep us busy- a bonfire, more showshoeing, etc... We wanted cozy and these three hours in a small space with 8 other people we didn't know and a raunchy Netflix movie they chose to watch, wasn't hygge. Also maybe if we knew there would be that big gap in time we could have planned ahead, but the activity listing isn't clear about this. 3. We were told that we could go to the beach and explore, but it would have been really nice to have someone guide us there and explain or show us around for a few minutes, especially given that it was very icy and very dark. The steep, icy driveway is so dangerous.

We opted for snowshoeing and overnight in a lavvo. How to say that the stay was beautiful. Thanks to José for his sympathy, punctuality and advice! Thanks to Berenica and Angelina for their talents in cooking! And a BIG thank you to Arthur for his kindness, patience, explanations before, during and after the snowshoe ride. We were lucky because we were alone, everyone was taking care of us and we were able to observe sublime Northern Lights from our lavvo. There is a very positive energy in this place. I highly recommend!

It was an interesting experience! For us City folk Asians, to be able to experience a night under the stars in a Lavvo is unimaginable. Our guide was very knowledgeable, casual and speaks very good English. The food was delicious and feels very local. A note would be that you will have to bring your own toiletries for the shared toilet at the main house.

Awesome stay! Jose, Angelina, and their team are wonderful hosts. The house is beautiful and the Crystal Lavvos are very cozy. Sadly weather meant the Northern Lights weren't visible but we still had a great time on the snowshoe hike and enjoying our stay onsite. Would absolutely recommend to anyone!

The trip was a really fun experience. Even though we didn't get to see the lights because of a snow storm we still enjoyed snow shoeing and the atmosphere.
