Our driver, Mike, and our guide, Evgeny, were very professional and took care of every aspect of the tour. We had to do two stops to hunt the aurora lights but it was an unexpected third stop that allow us to see stronger lights. The staff proved they were experts in catching the northern lights. Tour very well organized and safe. Warm turmat and hot chocolate were provided, as well as warm clothes and boots.

Excellent excellent experience! Our guide Anna was very knowledgeable, and they definitely went the extra mile to make sure we got to see the aurora. Food was great as well.

It was a very long night, and the weather in Tromso was........ very Norwegian, ha. The snow and wind were out in force that evening. Fabien and Ilyan picked us up, right on time. Just wanted to note that other companies at the meeting spot were giving folks the option to cancel. We were not. We had a full van, and ended up driving 3 or so hours out of Tromso, and into Finland. Fabien and Ilyan were absolutely determined to try and deliver. They gave us updates, which was appreciated as the weather was getting worse with each passing hour. It did let up enough that we got some incredible views of the fjords during the drive. As we approached the Finland border, even they were starting to question if the evening would be a wash. Suddenly, we started seeing a few stars in the sky - and true to their word - we pulled off to the side of the road. They started a fire and started distributing a hot and hearty vegetarian soup. The aurora put on a decent show that evening. Fabien sent us photos, a few days later, that showed what an experienced pro can do. I gladly paid the extra to get hi-res versions of the photos (400NOK to 1000+ NOK depending on how many different photos you want). Also, I had to note that the driving conditions were absolutely terrible, in my eyes - but clearly, just another Tuesday for local drivers. Ilyan was absolutely ripping it down the road (and so was every other car), with snow careening at us, and the road totally packed with snow. And not once did I feel unsafe (which is VERY unusual for me). I felt full confidence in his driving skill, even when the roads started getting a wee slushy on the way home. A warning though - a full van can get quite uncomfortable, if you're not used to long drives. Seats were comfortable enough that my spine didn't protest, but I was also fortunate enough to be sitting by the aisle so I was able to stretch my legs out occasionally. We got back to the hotel around 3:30AM, about 8+ hours from the start. Amusingly, there were quite a few open food carts in the downtown core, so if you're hungry after the ride, you have a few options. Do I wish we got a better aurora showing? Of course. But did the Wandering Owl team absolutely deliver on their promises, and kept us all safe and warm? Absolutely. If you don't enjoy cramped long drives, I would recommend keeping an eye on the weather report, and saving your trip for a better weather day. If you're looking for a comfortable posh evening - this is definitely not for you. If you have a spirit of adventure, and love the idea of spending a rustic night around a roaring fire, watching the sky? This could be for you. Take a chance and let the Wandering Owl team do their best to deliver what could be an enduring core memory.

Even with very poor weather and chances very slim Sophie did not give up until we had a sighting of the lights. Very knowledgeable and interesting.

There are many options available when looking for a company to "Chase the Northern lights"., and it is hard to know which one to select. I need to say this was not my first time doing this so I have some background. I was very very impressed with our guide ,Jen., and our driver. She was amazing! She was enthusiastic, extremely knowledgeable and most of all, held her ground. With her degree in meteorology, she just knew where to find the lights. The other groups kept telling her to move( but they never found them), but Jen held her ground and in spite of peer pressure, we stayed in her spot and saw the Northern Lights!!! I am so impressed with her . What a wonderful experience!

Despite having a super good guide with the best attitude, all the forecasts indicated that yesterday was not a good aurora day so they should have canceled and rescheduled. Even though the service was excellent and they tried to do everything for us to see them, this leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth because it means that as much as they care about your experience with the service , they don't care about your actual experience of the most important part of the trip. I find this the most disappointing and sad thing.

We had an absolutely great time! The guides Jordan and Michael were great and very informative. So blessed to see the Aurora on our first night in Tromso. Continued to show herself the entire night during camp. A wonderful and blessed night indeed!

My soup was less than lukewarm, and I felt I had to drink it quickly before it became cold. I didn’t want to spoil my appetite, therefore my experience of a Norwegian meal to be spoiled, as I was hoping to properly enjoy and appreciate the flavours. Glad there was availability for seconds of tea because I really needed it. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed my time and the knowledge of my guide (27.03.2026). With Fantastic photo opportunities. We had so many Aurora ms dancing in the sky, it was magical. I loved the bonfire and fjord experience too. I would recommend this guide. Extra bonus, there is USB AND Type C charging facilities on the bus, very very handy because I ran out of charge despite being full before I left out and my phone is only 1 years old. Gutted I didn’t take the opportunity to take pictures with the fjord behind me. Next time!

Before embarking on an aurora hunt, I alongside everyone else are perfectly understanding that the results are not guaranteed. After all, no one can perfectly predict the weather. As other reviews have mentioned, there are many other tours out there who would have rescheduled the trip, when they know full well there is no chance to get an aurora. But this point is not my complaint. With that out of the way, my experience with Wandering Owl was horrible. The tour shared with us a grand total of 13 photos for what was a six hour trip with 16 people. 10 of us were not even featured in the photographs. There was absolutely zero initiative from their side to take candid photos of the tour group, either along the way, or around the bonfire, as any other tours would have done. The quality of the photos were not great either. The mountains and rocks look really cartoonish, to the point where my friends thought that it was AI-generated. And it is hilarious (if it wasn't pathetic) that they ask you to pay extra to have the higher resolution of these images. Regardless of the aurora chase results, the service was really lacking, and not worth how much this costs. I have nothing against the staffs, it's just that the standard operating procedure and equipment/photo editing is really bad.

The guide team was sensational, chasing the aurora boreal for hours, until we glimpse through the clouds. It was magical. Efficient clothes against the cold and a delicious soup. And we learned everything about the aurora boreal and its legends.
