What To Expect

Experience the Norwegian Way of Winter Join us for an unforgettable cross-country skiing adventure on Tromsø's snowy trails, where you’ll discover the beauty of Norway's winter landscape and learn the basics of "langrenn," a sport close to the hearts of Norwegians. This 2.5- to 3-hour session includes everything from instruction to practice, with time set aside to pause and enjoy the incredible surroundings. Meet & Gear Up: Arrive at Charlottenlund Aktivitetspark for free parking, or take bus 26 to Skoglyst. We’ll fit you with skis, poles, and boots. Please provide your shoe size (up to size 47). Basic Techniques: Learn balance, glide, and uphill/downhill movements, with step-by-step guidance to help you feel confident. Explore & Sightsee: We’ll ski through trails with stunning viewpoints over Tromsø's snowy forests and mountains. Capture photos along the way! Break & Refresh: Enjoy a warm toddy and Norwegian sweet treats at a scenic rest spot, soaking in the tranquil surroundings. By the end, you’ll have new skills, beautiful photos, and an authentic taste of Norwegian winter culture!

The two young women leading the group were some of the best guides I've had -- friendly, informative, inclusive and fun. Our group of 8 included people with some experience cross country skiing and one in particular who could barely move without falling. And yet it somehow was managed well and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Those of us who were better skied ahead at some points and weren't bored and the slower ones got plenty of encouragement.

My nine y.o daughter and I did this in late November and absolutely loved it. The instructor, Mariel, was fantastic and really kept an eye out for my daughter, offering encouragement and tips for improvement. The booking process with Sissel was reallly easy and we found the meet-up point with no problem at all. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Tromso. It was a great deal of fun and you get to see parts of the city and local life that you might otherwise miss. Thank you Tromso Adventures!

I was the only one booked for the sledging, so I did the beginner’s cross-country skiing with Elias instead and it was so much fun! Even falling over was part of the fun. The scenery was beautiful, and I’d definitely recommend it.

I booked this because it would be sunny and nice. It was a little difficult to find the meeting place, but thanks to the coordinates it went well. It was about half an hour walk, but there is also bus. The leaders bring skis, poles and ski boots and then we start. It was a little hard to get on the skis, but then we started. We went through the basics and I learned a lot during the two hours. We even got some cold drinks. A very nice morning!

We had a great time cross-country skiing! The instructors were highly experienced, friendly, attentive, and well organized. Norway’s national sport can be physically challenging, but if that’s your thing you won’t be disappointed. A good sense of balance is helpful. The park is beautiful, the equipment is in great shape, and you just can’t beat skiing when it comes to having a truly authentic Norwegian experience.
