Tsuwano is a small rural town that has remarkably succeeded in preserving so much of Japan’s ancient traditions and historical landscapes until today.
A great symbol of this is the "Hyakkeizu: One Hundred Sceneries of Tsuwano from the Edo period”, designated as Japan’s National Heritage, containing 100 paintings of the Tsuwano feudal domain
about 160 years ago.
In this 3 hour electric bike cycling tour, we will discover Tsuwano by plunging into the world of the 100 Sceneries.
This is Yu-nas signature tour that we recommend as the first tour that visitors should experience when they visit Tsuwano.

We had an amazing experience on our 3 hour E-bike tour today, and our tour guide Mariano truly made it unforgettable. He spoke both English and Japanese, was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and made the entire tour feel personal and one of a kind. You could tell he genuinely enjoys what he does, and his energy made the experience even better. Because of Mariano, we already can’t wait to book another tour. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting, and if you can, definitely ask for Mariano as your guide. He was fantastic!

I decided to join a cycling tour because I wanted to experience not only the sightseeing spots I was looking for, but also what it was like to travel with local people. They showed me the highlights of the town based on history, and I was very happy that they took me to hidden spots that I could not easily reach even if I looked at the map, and they were kind to me because I was with a guide I knew at the facility I stopped by! I've written a detailed tour report here, so please refer to it. https://kijimasashi.blogspot.com/2026/05/yu-na.html

We had a great experience on our tour. There was only the three of us with our two guides, both of whom were very friendly and knowledgeable. We visited a number of places around Tsuwano that we could not have reached had we relied on ourselves. The was a tiny shrine and waterfall, the mounted archery range, temples and a very old huge tree, all by cycling through back streets. The tour was on e-bikes which made the tour easy. We had much fun and feel like we got great value for money. Thank you.

Did I like the experience? No, I loved it! My guide was Hazuki and together with her husband, they showed me around. Tsuwano is really small but there is enough to talk about in the 3 hours that the tour lasts. Hazuki and Mariano both live in Tsuwano so they know a lot about it and the tell you about it, with a passion. Tsuwano is a bit off the beaten track and small, so there is almost no traffic and it's perfect to explore by bike. A little note: if you are really tall, say it upfront so they can bring the right bikes or adjust them. But they are electric bikes so it's a breeze. So if you are staying a day, it's a perfect way to see the village, if you stay multiple days, it's perfect also because it shows you different places you can explore by yourself later, like the castle ruins or the Inari shrine. For a little zen moment: go to Yomeji temple, there won't be a lot of people, chances are you are the only one, pay the entrance fee of 300 or 500 hundred yen, go to the back of the temple and watch it's small garden. Just relax and enjoy Tsuwano.

The theme of the tour was “Keep the time”, and it was a deeply felt tour, but more importantly, it was a trip that matched Yu-na’s concept of “traveling with who you really are”. When I come home, I think it was tears that manifested my worries and feelings that I hadn't realized. I owe it to my guide to evoke those feelings! It was a wonderful time to think about history and the present in a relaxing time, and to face myself as well! Thank you.

It was a tour that made me want to visit Tsuwano again. We had a great time learning about the scenery of the hundred landscape maps that still remain and their historical background. Three hours was fast. If you try to sightsee Tsuwano with your knowledge after the tour, I feel that one day is not enough (laughs) The guide, Yui, and other residents of the town also talked about various things. Thank you very much. Now that I have decided which place I would like to visit next, I would like to visit Tsuwano someday.

Together with Zuki we discover the history of the charming town of Tsuwano and its surroundings. The bike ride is easy to do on comfortable e-bikes. Zuki is a super guide who tells a lot and knows her surroundings and the people. In short: highly recommended!

It was my first guided tour and it was amazing! It wasn’t just about going around the sights, the whole three-hour tour was built like a story. At the beginning, you are presented with a “certain theme,” and every casual little story along the way leads to that theme. It was like trying to piece together a puzzle, and I hope you can experience it there! Also, the one that sticks in my mind the most is Tsuwano’s “Silence.” In a place where a guide would normally cram in explanations, he deliberately made time to pause for words and sharpen his senses. That few minutes of experience was so special that I can still remember it clearly. Toward the end of the tour, the guide shared a little bit of his feelings for Tsuwano, which was lovely. I really felt that it was good that this person showed me around, and I feel that it was a profound experience that was not just about seeing the scenery. At the end, we were very satisfied with the local sweets from start to finish. It is an electric bike, so you don't need to be physically strong, and it's fun to learn history, so it's recommended for your first trip to Tsuwano!

Tsuwano is his first visit. I came because there is a cycling tour! It was a wonderful tour to see the landscape and culture of Tsuwano as if time had stopped, comparing it while cycling in the present with the map of Tsuwano 100 landscapes drawn about 160 years ago! Although it is only three hours long, you can take a guided tour of a number of highlights, including some deep spots, which is a great way to get to know and see Tsuwano! And most of all, I was impressed by the wonderful Ai Tsuwano of our guide Yui-chan! This time I went to see the autumn colors, but I would like to visit again because I think it shows the faces of each season!
