We had a fantastic tour with Chizuko-san who showed us the tuna auction, museum, and walked us around a portion of the port. We learned a lot from her about tuna and the local and Japanese fishing industry. Highly recommend if you’re in Katsuura or walking the Kumano Kodō!

We used the audio tour which was very informative and enjoyable. It made our visit to tuna auction really enriched. We really enjoyed meeting Stella to answer further questions and eating the amazing tuna breakfast! Thank you Stella your tour was excellent.

She had so much interesting information to share, as well as local suggestions for the rest of my day. What a wonderful ambassador for the town! Highly recommend these tours for anyone visiting the area

Wonderful guide and introduction to all things tuna. Stella met us at our hotel and walked us to the tuna market. Then provided us with lots of interesting information. Highly recommend if you are in Katsuura .

Without Stella's explanations you only see a lot of tuna on the floor and some people moving around it. Stella provides really explanations as for the different kinds and numbers of tuna, what is actually happening in front of you, the roles of each person, the fishing process, and the important differences between the auction market in Katsuura and other tuna auction markets. She also knows some of the people working during the auction, which gives particular interesting insights. I totally recommend going to the auction with her!
