Discover the story behind Turkish Delight and learn how this iconic sweet has been made for centuries. Enjoy a guided cultural session where you watch each step of the lokum-making process, taste three different varieties, and explore its history from the Ottoman Palace to modern Istanbul. During the workshop you will see how the syrup is prepared, how starch is added, and how traditional lokum is shaped and coated. This is a hands-on learning experience, but the lokum made during the session is not consumed or taken home due to the required resting period. At the end of the experience, you will receive a special gift: a 200-gram box of classic Turkish Delight from Hacı Bekir, Istanbul’s oldest and most famous lokum maker (est. 1777). I had a great experience with this Turkish Delight workshop! From the very first moment you are taken into the rich history of lokum. The story of more than 250 years old really comes to life and gives so much extra meaning to what you taste and make. The workshop itself is super fun and educational. You get the chance to taste three different, unique varieties of Turkish Delight, each with their own taste and character. In addition, it is extremely special to see the entire traditional preparation process step by step and to experience it yourself. The guidance of a local expert tops it all off: you notice that a lot of passion and knowledge is shared, which makes the experience even more authentic. As icing on the cake, you will also receive a beautiful gift from Hacı Bekir, Istanbul’s oldest pastry chef – a truly beautiful and meaningful finish. In short: an absolute must for anyone who wants to combine culture, history and good food in one unique experience!

This Turkish Delight class with Lina was the perfect thing to do on a cold, wet day in Istanbul. It was cozy, hands-on, and completely different from anything else I could find, in all the best ways. Lina was incredibly caring and encouraging, even when I made a bit of a mess along the way. She made the whole process feel fun and approachable while sharing the history behind Turkish delight and walking me through each step. Tasting the different varieties was such a treat. And honestly the best part was getting to take Turkish delights home at the end….a souvenir that didn’t last long for the rest of the trip.

It was such a fun workshop. I’ve eaten Turkish Delight but had no idea how to make it. We got to make our own- lots of stirring and it came out delicious! Highly recommend this workshop. Lena was such a good instructor and so sweet. We got little parting gifts as well.😀

Fun, easy and tasty class for our whole group. The facilities were clean and cute. The whole process was professional and well organized. Lina was funny and supportive and a great teacher. We were able to try several different types like pistacchio and rose. Making our own was super fun and easy. Lina made us Turkish coffee while we waited for it to cool and she even gave us some beautiful Turkish coffee cups as gifts, along with some packaged Turkish deligh to take home. Great value for the money and a wonderful way to experience a part of the culture. The location was up a little alley and stairs to a group of art / creative rooms which were really nice. Highly recommend for a fun afternoon about a 15 minute walk from the Blue Mosque area.

This workshop was one of the most vivid experiences of our journey. Lina is a true professional and a very hospitable hostess. She turned the lucum-making process into an exciting journey into Turkish history. We really liked that the class was as practical as possible. Lina explained every nuance so easily that even the newcomers were perfect. The atmosphere in the studio was very warm and friendly. A special thank you for tasting authentic sweets – this helped us develop a taste for a real quality product. If you're looking for a unique cultural experience that combines learning and pleasure, be sure to sign up with Lina. It was educational, delicious and very heartwarming!

We had an amazing Turkish delight making experience. Lina is an excellent teacher that guided us through the process of making our own Lokum with lots of knowledge and wonderful humour. Lots of laughs, and lots of fun. At the end we received a lovely gift to take home. A highlight of our Istanbul holiday. Definately a must if you visit Istanbul.
