I highly recommend this tour and this particular tour operator. Rija the guide is so knowledgeable and went out of his way to make sure I had a good trip. I would definitely book again with him if travelling thru Madagascar

I found a tour that sounded interesting using the Viator website but then booked directly with the tour company (more cost effective). They were very responsive and were happy to offer a private tour to Ampefy and extend their usual 2 day / 1 night tour to an extra day and overnight so we would have an intermediate day at Ampefy. Rija was our driver and guide and he was very helpful, open and knowledgeable. We felt very safe in his hands. He collected us from our hotel at the beginning and dropped us off at a different hotel in Antananarivo at the end. The driving in Madagascar is challenging, what with narrow roads, potholes, cobbled streets, animals, people, bicycles, tuktuks, rickshaws, zebu-drawn carts, markets…. But Rija and his solid 4-WD vehicle coped. We did everything proposed on the itinerary: Itasy lake, Lily’s waterfalls, geyser with mud massage, Lemur’s park as well as a beautiful boat trip across the lake. We had stops at a viewpoint on the journey to the lake and Rija drove us from the boat up to the Catholic monument on the summit of the Holy Virgin peninsular. Our stay in Farihy hotel was comfortable. The food was good and French inspired. However, the water supply to our bungalow was a bit iffy: low water pressure and sometimes no hot water. I enjoyed swimming in their pretty pool: swimming in the lake is inadvisable because of the risk of bilharzia. Be prepared that in the touristy places (Lily’s waterfall, geyser, Ilot de Vierge) there are very persistent hawkers selling souvenirs. Also be prepared that tipping is normal for any services – have small notes to hand. One other thing I would say not to be missed – the delicious chocolate made in Madagascar from local cocoa beans (I was highly impressed by the Tsara brand).

Such a relaxing and enjoyable trip. Rija is friendly and super knowledgeable. Tojo was a super friendly and skilled driver. I had a wonderful adventure. Highly recommend this tour to see some lovely Malagasy countryside and villages. I feel that I have a better understanding of Madagascar for having gone.

Excursion highly recommended for those wishing to: - learn more about Malagasy customs thanks to the valuable and precise information of Guide, Cédric. - Travel Safe Initiative with the driver Tojo to discover the beauties of the Malagasy countryside. Cedric and Tojo, are super friendly, available, attentive. The exchanges with Rija to prepare this circuit were extremely fluid. (Remember to take a swimsuit because there are many opportunities to swim.) Marie

I had an amazing time going on this tour! The guide (Haja) was super nice. He's a capable driver and a good conversationalist. His English was great which is hard to find in Madagascar. The locations were great and the hotel was really comfortable. I recommend.
