Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary
The Monkey Forest in Ubud, also called the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, is one of Bali’s most popular tourist attractions. It is a natural forest filled with over 1,000 long-tailed monkeys that live freely among the trees, paths, and temples. Inside the forest, you will find three ancient Balinese Hindu temples, which are still used for ceremonies today. The temples are more than 600 years old and show the deep spiritual and cultural traditions of Bali. Visitors come to enjoy the beautiful green scenery, see the monkeys in their natural habitat, and experience the peaceful, spiritual feeling of the area. There are also many stone carvings, statues, and bridges that make the forest feel magical. The Monkey Forest also teaches an important Balinese philosophy called Tri Hita Karana, which means living in harmony with god, other people and nature.
Tegalalang Rice Terrace
Tegallalang Rice Terrace is one of the most famous and scenic rice fields in Bali, located about 20 minutes north of Ubud. It is known for its beautiful, layered rice paddies that follow the natural curves of the hills — like green steps across the landscape. These rice fields use a traditional Balinese irrigation system called Subak, which is over 1,000 years old. This system is based on community cooperation and the Balinese philosophy of harmony with nature.

First of all, Kadek was an outstanding guide who really made our day special. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and made everything feel easy and relaxed from start to finish. He shared great local insights, gave us plenty of time to enjoy each stop, and even helped us get some amazing photos along the way. His positive attitude and attention to detail truly elevated the whole experience. From start to finish, it had a perfect mix of adventure, scenery, and a bit of relaxation. We visited a series of waterfalls, each one more impressive than the last. The sound of the water crashing down and the lush jungle surroundings made it feel like something out of a movie. Being able to get in the water and cool off was a huge bonus, especially in the Bali heat. Next up was the famous jungle swing experience, which was both thrilling and slightly nerve-wracking at first—but absolutely worth it. Once you’re out there, soaring over the trees with incredible views, it’s hard not to just enjoy the moment (and get some unreal photos). We also stopped by a local coffee plantation, which was a really nice change of pace. Getting to try a variety of teas and coffees while learning a bit about the process was surprisingly interesting. The setting itself was peaceful and tucked away in nature, making it a great spot to slow down for a bit. To finish the day, we visited the rice fields, and they were just stunning. The layered terraces, vibrant green colours, and calm atmosphere made it the perfect way to wrap everything up. It’s one of those places where you can just take it all in and appreciate how unique Bali really is. Overall, the whole excursion felt well-paced and gave us a great mix of activities without feeling rushed. This kind of day trip is 100% worth doing—it really captures the best of what the area has to offer.

Kadek and John are great, very good English and knowledge of Bali. They love to chat which makes the experience even better. We organised several different tours with both of them and can 100% recommend them. Our group will also be using their services well into the future.

Had a great trip with Kadek who picked us up at 7:30 am from Seminyak and drove us to Ubud. The trip was memorable in terms of the variety of inclusions - temple, waterfall, rice field, monkey forest plus time to shop and eat in Ubud centre, but also the fact that it was not rushed and in line with our pace and requirements. Highly recommend Kedek who is a wonderful driver and guide.

Highly recommend doing this trip with Kadek, hes knowledgable, extremely friendly and passionate about his village (in Ubud). It was fascinating to hear about the different types of artistry learnt in schools in and around Ubud whilst being taken to places that specialised in different arts. Also know that Kadek is open to suggestions and nowhere is too far or 'out of the way' whilst youre with him.
