What To Expect
A safari in Udawalawe National Park offers an unforgettable journey into one of Sri Lanka’s top wildlife destinations, especially known for its large population of wild elephants. Your adventure begins in a 4x4 open-top jeep, guided by a local wildlife tracker or experienced driver. The safari typically lasts 3–4 hours, best time is either early in the morning or late in the afternoon (depending on the weather), when animals are most active. Udawalawe is one of the best places in Asia to see elephants in the wild—often in herds, with babies too! Watch them bathe in lakes, graze in open grasslands, or walk right past your jeep. Keep your eyes peeled for: Water buffalo, Crocodiles, Spotted deer, Monitor lizards, and over 180 species of birds including eagles, hornbills, and peacocks. This is a photographer’s paradise—bring a good camera or smartphone for close shots of animals and sweeping landscapes. The calm setting and natural beauty make it as relaxing as it is thrilling. Safaris are safe and suitable for families. Best time to visit: Early morning or late afternoon. Bring sunscreen, a hat, water, and binoculars if you have them.

5.00I had a lovely safari experience in Sri Lanka with Gotrex Tours. Everything was well organised, and the team made me very well looked after and comfortable throughout the trip. The guide Mr.Kumara was very friendly and shared interesting information about the animals and the area. We saw elephants, crocodiles, and many beautiful birds. it was such a special experience. I would happily recommend Gotrex Tours to anyone visiting Sri Lanka.
