This urban cycling tour offers a dynamic and inspiring way to explore the city. We'll ride at a comfortable pace, taking in picturesque streets, hidden gems, and thought-provoking urban spaces. The route includes modern architecture, vibrant street art, green areas, and glimpses into the past, present, and future of Tartu.

The tour lasts 2.5–3 hours with pauses, covering about 8–12 kilometers in total.

The tour is private for group of 2-12 people from age 14.

NB! A bicycle is required: come with your own or rent a public rental bicycle. The public e-bike system is the most convenient way to move around the city. Once it is set up, it is easy to use on your phone. With a day ticket for just 5 euros/24h you can use it even before and after the tour. Check here for more: Tartu Smart Bike.

What To Expect

We'll meet at the front door of the University of Tartu Library. The guide will introduce how to use the public bikes and go over riding safety guidelines. NB: Please arrive about 10 minutes early if you've never used the city's public bikes before.

Vaksali is a cozy, low-rise neighborhood between the city center and the railway. We’ll see the renovated railway station and square, the Vaksali bridge and tunnels (one of the most Instagrammed spots in Tartu), and a few award-winning public spaces.

Bring your own favourite bottle of water bottle. Drinking water tap are around city to fill it.

Guidelines for using the public bike share and tips for safely navigating the city.

Dress for the weather. Layers and a scarf are good if chilly. No need for sporty clothing.

Bicycles are not included. For using public e-bike, you’ll have to make an account, download an app and take a day ticket at: https://ratas.tartu.ee. Note: 1 account = 1 bicycle. Allowed from age 14.

It is illegal to be under the influence of alcohol and drugs while riding a bike.
