A variety of over two hundred different plants, most of them native Mexican plants, makes for a unique and special experience to any and all plant-lovers.

As you enter the lush space, you’ll see an abundance of greenery and observe first-hand the subtle interactions within our fruit tree guilds, hügelkulturs, and garden beds.

The orchard has grown to sustain several species of birds, insects, mammals, and reptiles; discovering such relations can help us bridge the gap between ourselves and our food. The yumminess of a live, fresh patch of Swiss chard can’t be easily matched—it’s like you’re meant to take a bite.

Ideal for plant enthusiasts and adventure seekers, you'll gain insider knowledge on how we carry the summer flavors into the winter.

Come, meet our chickens, and get your hands a little dirty as you forage for delicious, nutrient-packed veggies, seasonal fruits, or even seeds and flowers.

Join us for an immersive experience you won’t forget.

What To Expect

We will meet at the pick-up point and drive to the orchard. The ride will last anywhere between 45 minutes and an hour, depending on traffic. Upon arriving, we will explore the space itself, getting to know some of the trees, plants, and veggies that comprise it, and learn about the different techniques we have employed, adapted, or developed ourselves while building it. You will engage yet another sense with the sounds that can be heard in the orchard as various birds and insects pay visits to it throughout the day. We'll go beyond observing and listening with a hands-on approach that will further reveal some of the many ways in which we can interact with its different elements through our senses, with something as simple as crushing a leaf to release its fragrance or outright trying it to discover a new flavor. You will then shorten the distance between you and your food by foraging among what the garden will have to offer at that moment, only to put your creativity to the test as we help you imagine something simple yet scrumptious to eat with the freshest possible produce; something that will be undoubtedly memorable as the cherry on top of your experience with our orchard.

Wonderful visit to the garden and orchard of Ruben and David who were excellent hosts. I learned a lot about both edible plants and flowers as well as some wonderful ornamental plants along with these gardeners’ methods for composting, caring for their flock of chickens, and creating an urban oasis in a unique ecosystem. I enjoyed the trip there on the cable car as well as learning about the area of Desierto de los Leones. Highly recommended for plant lovers who want to escape somewhere quiet, meet some fellow gardeners, and enjoy a moment of calm while visiting Mexico City.

Fantastic! I encourage everyone who is curious about plants to go. I was expecting to learn a lot but I didn't imagine that it would be so easy and fun. The experience feels personal, Rubén is very welcoming and a great story teller. There is something interesting in every inch of the garden. I was excited to learn about local plants, their health benefits and medicinal uses. I also got great inspiration for cooking. I believe the experience can offer as much to plant lovers as to people with particular experience in botany, sustainability, or urbanism, and alike.

  • An unforgettable day in the countryside... in the middle of CDMX!

My partner and I came to visit the garden of Ruben and David in Santa Rosa Xochiac, 40 minutes by car/Uber from the center of the CDMX. We had an unforgettable and wonderful day. The garden is of amazing beauty, full of flowers, native plants and vegetables. The guided tour of the garden lasted about two hours and was fascinating: we learned about horticulture, permaculture, organic cultivation, the role of native plants, Hügelkultur, trap plants, chicken cultivation, correct compost and self-sustainability. David and Ruben have created a magical orchard in an original and beautiful town in the southwest of the CDMX. We feel like in the Swiss mountains. After learning the history of your orchard and its growing technique, we enjoy a delicious homemade breakfast with ingredients from your orchard: nopales, kale, tomato, beans, chayotes... The talk was enjoyable, the immediate mutual trust and everything was an unforgettable and magical experience. For those who want to know this unknown side of the CDMX, we recommend this experience with all our hearts. Reuben and David also speak English and French.

This is a magical experience and the hosts, David and Rubén, are extraordinary. Every part of the tour was thoughtfully arranged, from the ride in the gondola to the pickup in the VW bug to the garden-grown lunch. Rubén and David have poured their hearts, minds and souls into this garden and you will learn a ton about native plants, organic local gardening, Mexican history, etc. They are both great conversationalists and educators and just fun to be around. This is a unique experience you should not miss!

This experience was extraordinary for us. The tour guide, in addition to having an evident scientific and cultural expertise in each of the plant species, invited us to get to know them through all of our senses, thus provoking an intellectual, spiritual, and physical experience in relation to the earth, its fruits and the creatures that depend on them; such as hens, bees, birds, and us humans. We were also explained the function that each of the species has in relation to its -carefully selected- ecosystem and the soil. In this way, we were able to appreciate them in their optimal state, as this is reflected in the delicious flavor that each species of plant presented, its intense color, its delicious flavor and a texture that is both strong and delicate, sometimes reminiscent of silk. This garden is a gift. It is a space that is evidence of human genius, passion, generosity and intellectuality towards Earth. Eternal thanks to our guide, he shared a lot with us.
