People have fallen unconscious due to the heady scent of flowers, we do not know how much of that is true however the valley of flowers has a beauty which is unparalleled, and colors are straight out of a fantasy.

Brief History: In 1931, Frank S. Smythe, Eric Shipton and R.L. Holdsworth, all British mountaineers, lost their way while returning from a successful expedition to Mt.Kamet and happened upon the valley, which was full of flowers. They were attracted to the beauty of the area and named it the "Valley of Flowers. The valley is also home to some rare and endangered animal species like Asiatic black deer, snow leopard, musk deer, red fox, brown bear and blue sheep.

The park stretches over an expanse of 87.50 km2 and it is about 8 km long, 2 km wide and is filled with floral pastures, running streams and beautiful backdrop of the mountains.
