Alistair understands the gardens and his clients. He brings the gardens and fountains and the flora and designs to life. My family, including 4 kids (ages 19, 17, 13, & 11) felt like we were with Louis 14, 15, & 16 and reliving the history of France. We appreciated his historical perspective and stories.

My daughter and I shared a wonderful day touring the gardens and grounds of Versailles with our guide ,Alistair Douglas . We were in a small group tour of 6 people which provided a very personalized tour and plenty time to hear about the history and detail of how Versailles was constructed and details of the kings /queens and other historical figures who each had influence and contributions to this property. Alistair helped all of us manage time in each area of the property so we did not miss important parts like seeing fountains turn on at different times of day . He offered to take pictures of the different guests in front of the most beautiful areas of the property . He made navigating this vast area seamless throughout the day including time to “ stop and smell the roses “. Mr.Douglas’s tour does involve alot of walking and most of the actual tour is of the outside grounds of Versailles. An opportunity to see the interior of the palace is provided at the end of the tour without a guide so if your main interest in Versailles is the interior of the palace this may not be the tour for you . Overall our experience was outstanding and we would highly recommend Mr.Alistair Douglas for your tour in Versaille.

The tour involves a lot of walking so proper shoes is a MUST. Now depending on the weather, its ideal to have an umbrella handy as you'll look to pay up 15 euros from the vendors BUT I noticed that you can haggle towards 10 euros.. Our tour guide Alistair was phenomenal as he'll remind you via email and preferred contact number on your meeting spot the day before. His knowledge of versailles history is quite impressive thus leaving you wanting to know more... Good job Alistair!

The tour was very well organized. We were able to watch the fountains come to life on Sunday. Alistair was a very knowledgeable and courteous tour guide. We started exploring the gardens and Marie Antoinette quarters. Had lunch before visiting the palace. The group was small and we had enough time for everything. We would highly recommend this tour. Thank you, Alistair!

I researched all the tours and looked carefully at the reviews before deciding this was the best tour to do in Versailles. My expectations were high but we were not disappointed. Alistair is passionate about Versailles and its history. He effortlessly moved us around the grounds, all the time sharing history and anecdotes. By the time we had finished we had learnt so much and enjoyed the beautiful setting. What a great day! Thanks Alistair.
