The whole experience was great! Alistair reached out beforehand with helpful information and tips, which made finding our meeting point easy. My family of 4 lucked out and had the tour all to ourselves, but even with more guests this tour would still have been wonderful. We learned so much through Alistair’s engaging stories that really brought Versailles’ history to life. We very much appreciated having a guided tour through the key parts of the gardens and the Queen’s Hamlet, which are extensive and in my opinion would be hard to appreciate on one’s own. The tour did not feel rushed, and there was plenty of time to ask questions, stop for a snack, feed the fish/ducks/swans, take photos, and pop into Angelina’s for lunch. Thanks for a great day, Alistair!

This is one of the best tours my wife and I have ever undertaken, if not the best! Alistair was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. You could feel his enthusiasm and that it was very important to Alistair that all on the tour not just had a good time but a memorable experience we could tell our friends. He offered to take photos of us at every significant stop. I was expecting the Versailles Palace to be like all other historic European buildings, impressive with lots of paintings and sculptures. (e.g. Louvre and numerous Castles, Basilicas Cathedrals, Churches, Galleries, Museums etc) and that is exactly what it was. Seen one you have seen them all and seeing anymore is simply ticking the box for me while my wife loves them all so I go along. For me what Alistair did was totally unexpected and brought the gardens of Versailles to life with both the story behind their creation and the spectacle they are. Extremely impressive and I'm not easily impressed. The French are very good gardening. The day goes very smoothly with plenty of time to take in all there is to offer with breaks at morning tea and lunch. At no stage did we feel rushed and we saw all one needed to see in terms of the gardens and Marie-Antoinette's Hamlet with Alistair providing the history and context as well as the rise and fall of of the Louis Kings and Marie-Antoinette. As a couple the tour was excellent, however is also great for a family as the kids will have a have great time feeding the ducks, fish and swans. As a big kid I enjoyed it too!! A great day anyone considering a tour of Versailles should select.

We had an absolutely amazing tour of the Versailles grounds with Alistair as our guide. His storytelling was rich, engaging, and full of fascinating details that brought history to life. Even the young adults in our group — not the easiest to impress — were completely captivated from start to finish. Alistair expertly led us through the vast estate, including the spectacular gardens, helping us experience so much more than we ever could have on our own. He also went above and beyond by taking fantastic photos of our group at just the right spots — always willing to help us capture the moment. If you’re visiting Versailles and want a guide who’s knowledgeable, engaging, and incredibly thoughtful, Alistair is the one to ask for!

Alistair was amazing. He was insightful and very knowledgeable. He was attentive to everyone in the group. It was our only actual booked guided tour and it was the best. I learned so much and would use him again and 100% recommend Alistair to friends and family!

Alistair is very knowledgeable and told us some very interesting stories about the history of the place and the French Revolution. He took us to places that we would not have gone on our own. This is my second time to Versailles this trip is a lot more memorable than the previous one. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
