Palace of Versailles
Time to discover the grandeur of the French monarchy. Originally a hunting lodge, King Louis XIII transformed the site into the iconic Versailles Palace and Gardens in the 17th century, now designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. As you skip the line with your guide to enter the palace, you'll discover over 2,000 rooms, each adorned with exquisite art and treasures, offering a glimpse into the opulence of the French royal court. This estate served as the epicenter of French power and luxury during the reign of King Louis XIV, who spared no expense in his pursuit of perfection. Your expert guide will share fascinating tales of the court's lavish lifestyle and the notorious scandals that rocked Versailles during its heyday. The palace's stunning design also offers breath-taking views of the manicured gardens.

Our guide Caroline was incredibly knowledgable and made the entire experience a breeze, a real accomplishment considering it was New Year's Eve and the place was absolutely packed. The palace and gardens are stunning, an absolute must see

Our tour guide was wonderful and the Palace of Versailles is a must see when you come to France. We ate at the restaurant here and the food was excellent, of course. France is truly unforgettable.

If you book this tour of Versailles, you should know a few things. First, it is, as advertised, a lot of walking and the large open area within the gates of the palace are cobblestone and could be a challenge for some - wear good walking shoes! Second, you will travel by train to the palace with your guide and group but will likely return via train on your own. Don't panic - that is a very easy journey to navigate. If you're ok with those two aspects, you will not be disappointed. Our guide - Eamon - was funny and informative. The pace was good. If you book the 3/3.5-hour experience, you will see the highlights - only see about 1/3 of the palace, and you will have access to visit the gardens. If you want to continue your tour beyond the initial session, you're in luck. Just keep going. As always, Viator groups skip the lines, which was worth the price alone, given the high number of visitors we encountered over the Christmas holiday. This was the second Viator experience of our 6-day trip and we definitely recommend it!
