Butchart Gardens was spectacular and Victoria is such a beautiful place. The tour was very well organized and on time. We even had time for an extra stop to take in a mountain top view of Vancouver. Our guide Rodrigo was excellent, very informative and knowledgeable, patient and polite. Would definitely recommend this tour!

  • Never join this tour agency - the worst value

Went on this tour 28/9/24. This operator is Landsea Tours and Adventures (or Landsea Tours for short). On Viator, it does not give its name. One needs to find out. Never join this tour. It often advertises slightly lower price than other tour agencies for the same itinerary but there are reasons. I found out after joining and hope to share. If I had known earlier, I will never book with them. This agency engages only a bus driver but they will tell you it is a driver cum guide. The driver was Kyle. He was never a guide. He did not and could not tell you anything about the sights you see. He did not once (except at Butchart gardens when he needed to pick up entry tickets) get up from his driver seat whenever we reach a site. He basically just sat on his driver seat and speak into the microphone that we arrived and when we should be back on the bus. He spoke about things which were not about the sites we visited, thus all irrelevant. He dressed as if he was on weekend holiday not one where a professional tourist driver would do. Photo shows the bus that Landsea Tours and Adventure uses (front bus). Apparently, they use the same type of bus for all tours as at there was also another group on this tour and they were on another black bus of the same type. That bus was even worse, looked older and run-down. In the photo shows a coach from another tour agency, Greyline (coach behind in photo). One can see that the coach is a proper international tourist coach. They had a driver and a tour guide, both professionally dressed. At the ferry terminal, everyone had to stop by the small café outlet to wait for the ferry. We spoke to each other and we knew it was the same itinerary. If one tour agency charges a tour price very close to another tour agency (maybe slightly less), but gives a very lousy cramped school bus instead of a tourist coach and worse, provide a someone who is not even caring about tourists to be a driver and not providing even a guide, this means this tour agency is over-charging. Be-careful when you book. Do not look at this tour agency price, they are over-charging because they give you an experience as if you are taking a public/school bus and touring by yourself. This type of bus is cramp and low. One can’t get a good view of scenery. There is also risk as there is only 1 exit door unlike a tourist coach. To make matters worse, Kyle did not once stand up and count the head count before leaving each site. It was the guests on the bus shouting at him to alert him that not all were back on the bus then he knew. For this trip, all guests were on time and not late. He was not a driver with experience with tourists. For Landsea Tours and Adventures, it was not only the driver that was a problem. Their office personnel also could not be trusted. I highlighted to Landsea Tours and Adventures that my friend and I booked separately but we were on the same tour so that they would put us together. It was John who messaged and confirmed telling the driver. On the day of tour before 7.55am, we both stood at the front door of the hotel to wait. We saw the blue bus and went to it. Kyle said that he was not informed of our travelling together and demanded that we sit separately (one of left row and one on right row). He was pointing at the bus entrance and in a very demanding tone. When I said that I could proof to him my communication with John, he said he need not know. It was a very disturbing experience. Being a tourist and being demanded by the driver. The guests on the bus all heard and saw. A few guests offered to reshuffle themselves and we managed to solve the matter. Kyle did not do anything. Throughout the journey, it was very apparent that this tour agency is bias against Asians. On return trip, all vehicles had to line up at the ferry terminal. Kyle got down to walk to another tourist coach and tried to find fault with the driver there. That coach did not block the way etc. He still proudly told ask how he faulted that driver and showed us a photo of the driver. He said the driver was an Asian. Landsea Tours and Adventures advertisement also can't be based on. They put tour fare CAD 249.32 in May 24 for this tour and put a condition must book by 9 Jun 24. How many times one try to book, one can't get this price. Actually, the real fare was about the same as other tour agencies when you put through the payment. As a tourist, never go with this type of tour agency. If you still need to book with them for certain reasons, do not book directly. Try book through an independent booking agent. I have doubts over Landsea Tours and Adventures credibility and the way they run tours.

Despite the rain, the tour guide Brent made sure we could experience all the sights. Brent was an excellent driver and very knowledgeable about the Vancouver Island.

We had a great day visiting Butchart Gardens and Victoria. Our driver/guide, Greg, was outstanding. He went above and beyond assisting us and two other couples with making changes to reservations or getting us booked on a sea plane flight back to Vancouver so that we could make our dinner reservations. Butchart Gardens is a very beautiful place as is downtown Victoria.
