Start your day with a visit (outside) to Lichtenstein Palace, the landmark of Vienna. Learn more about the history of the castle, which has been destroyed and rebuilt several times.
Next you will drive to the underground lake, which is located on a private property. Take a boat trip on the lake and enjoy the views of the surrounding area. (Sometimes, for technical reasons, we may have to replace a visit to the underground lake with other attractions, such as a visit to the Schlosspark Laxenburg or Heiligenkreuz Abbey.)
After the boat trip you will visit a local wine bar. Learn more about local wine production and sample some of the local wines.

5.00This was a great tour. Our guide Taras had very good knowledgeable of Vienna and explained to us much of the history of the city. He was a good driver too! The tour of the underground lake was also fascinating. It was spooky and beautiful at the same time. It was interesting to learn all the things it had been used for; first, a mine, then , during WWII , a place to build plane parts, and then ,as a tourist attraction. The castle was neat to see. It looked very old and foreboding. It's too bad we weren't able to enter, though we knew this was the case.

5.00Taras picked us up at our hotel and guided us on our way out of the city. First we went to the Lichtenstein castle which was very cool. Then we drove to the mine/underground lake. The guide there was also really good. Then finally we went to Gumpoldskirchen for a winetasting that Taras held for us. Taras was very knowledgeable, friendly and engaging all through out the tour. We would highly recommend this tour! Thanks Taras!

3.00We had fun and enjoyed ourselves immensely. But there were a lot of problems with this tour. Communication with the operator was not good; they cancelled our tour last minute without providing an explanation. We rebooked for the next day. The visit to the castle is just 10 minutes for photos of the exterior -- no tour of the inside, even though the castle is in fact open for tours and we would have loved to see the interior. The visit to the underground lake (a flooded gypsum mine) was fun and interesting, but the tour operator did not mention that you need to bring a jacket, because it is quite cool inside the mine (constant 9 degrees C, 48 degrees F). They do have blankets available for rent (very inexpensive). The wine tasting did not include any kind of winery tour, and although the wine was delicious and the guide explained each of the 4 wines very well, he had not made a reservation at the restaurant and there were no tables for us indoors, so we had to sit outside at tables that were still wet from the rain (fortunately the rain held off while we were there). So even though we had a good day, I can't honestly recommend this tour company. They should have made the trip start earlier and last longer, to account for a tour of the castle and lunch, and done better planning and better communication. As it was, we did not get back to our hotel until 8:00 pm, so good thing we had not made any dinner reservations!
