Archaeological Park of Pompeii
24 August 79 AD started like any other day... a sudden disaster struck a lively city located near one of the major trading ports of the Roman Empire. As the largest volcano on the Italian peninsula erupted, the entire city was wiped out overnight buried under volcanic ash. The city's name was Pompeii. By the end of 25 august, the landscape around Mount Vesuvius had been changed forever and Pompeii had been completely buried. Within a few years no one could remember where the city had once stood. When its excavation began almost 1700 years later what came to light astonished the world. Under the volcanic ash, the city had been beautifully preserved. A time capsule that revealed centuries later what town life had been like at the time of the Roman Empire. Not only the city buildings were perfectly preserved, volcanic ash also sealed their bodies and their thoughts often scratched into the plaster walls before the sudden tragedy. Looking at the numerous and sometimes hidden details of Pompeii, you will know about its inhabitants, their lives and their wishes that never came true... 5.00We had a great family guided tour with Ada our Francophone guide. This one makes the visit lively and knows how to adapt to the whole family of the child through the teenager (e) to the parent. We feel that she loves her job and her heritage; she constantly seeks to improve and deepen her knowledge. Finally, she is patient and answers all questions, which makes the visit very lively. We made the visit in early March, it was ideal both from the point of view of attendance and climate.

5.00First time organizing a guided tour for my family and myself, so a little pressure on how it could go, although I was pretty confident considering Ada's comments and I'm just thrilled!!! Ada is a really passionate guide , we all loved the tour, honestly we couldn't have found better! Thank you for everything, and especially thank you for my Dad whose birthday it was and who had always dreamed of going to Pompeii:) unforgettable memories. I recommend Ada 100% without hesitation!

5.00Ada managed to interest our 2 teenagers thanks to anecdotes, and by addressing them a lot, with perfect French. We did Pompei and Herculaneum with Ada. Time passed very quickly, we would have liked to hear him tell us stories all day! The explanations for taking tickets and meeting points were very clear, she was responsive. We recommend visits with Ada with your eyes closed! Thanks again Ada

5.00We highly recommend Ada for a tour of Pompeii. With 25 years of experience, she is articulate in English, knowledgeable, warm, and offers a well paced tour of the site. With decades of travel experience, and considerable knowledge of archaeology and Roman antiquities, we rarely hire guides, preferring to explore at our own pace. However, Pompeii is so vast, far more than can be covered in a day even with helpful guidebooks, and offers so much to learn, we opted for a private guide for the two of us. Ada came highly recommended by a close friend, who had hired her for a family tour 7 years earlier and kept her contact information. We learned so much about the daily life of Pompeii, and the art and architecture that we would have overlooked on our own. She answered all our questions expertly, providing a helpful overview at the start of our day, and throughout her route. Given the time and expense of traveling to Pompeii, Ada made our visit that much more worthwhile. She also offers tours of Herculaneum, and if we had more time in Sorrento, we would have hired her again for a second adventure together.
