What an absolutely amazing chance to get up close and personal with New Zealand's geothermal 'hotspots'! It was actually a one person tour for me and Mike, the guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and really broadened my knowledge (including about the types of volcano that make up Auckland). I would thoroughly recommend this trip and might even do it again next time I visit NZ!

New Zealand capsulated in one tour. We were blown away by the terrain and how lush and green the landscape is. The Rotarua steam springs and plumes of steam was incredible.

The day startet at 7:20 am and the first stop was the Arapuni Swing Bridge, 152 m log and 54m high with an amazing view over the Waikato river and the rainforest. The next was the Volcanic Valley to go on a walk from Southern Crater to the Lake with the Jetty. It was raining at the beginning , but nevertheless a perfect day for a rainforest walk along the craters, pools and colored terraces. My guide Mike was explaining the plants, birds and the geothermal ecosystem. The last stop was Te Puia with the Maori Art Institute, Kiwi House and geothermal park. It was an amazing day and many thanks to Mike .

The tour of a very small group of 4 were picked up on time by the guide/driver in a comfortable van for the approximately 11 hour trip to the Volcanic regions. Waimangu with its pristine volcanic lake was our first tour. About 30+ minutes trail took us to the area where the Waimangu geyser erupted in a volcanic activity just over a century back. We came back to the center via a bus. The trail was great with colorful rocks and trees. Second tour stop was the Waiotapu geyser lakes. These were truly astounding with pools with different colors and smell. The town was beautiful too and a reminder that a geyser can potentially open up in your backyard here. Tour guide was friendly and provided excellent support.
