Cerro Negro volcano is one of the most active volcanoes in Nicaragua! This sensational experience begins from the city of León where we pick you up, we drive for approximately 1 hour until we reach the base of the Volcano, we start hiking through the rocky side for approximately 45 mins to 1 hour- beautiful views to Los Maribios mountain range and the beautiful contrasts of its surroundings are not to be missed.
Once at the top we take a few minutes to enjoy the view, unique pictures! Then we proceed to dress up with the protective gear –your safety comes first-, your guide will provide all the instructions to carry out the activity that we know as “Volcano Boarding”, which consists of sliding down on a wooden board through the sandy part for the adrenaline rush experience!
At the end we have quick snack to refresh ourselves and head back to Leon or continue with one of our many additional tours…

5.00We had an incredibly great experience boarding Volcano with David! Everything was perfectly organized from start to finish, so we felt safe and in good hands all the time. The equipment was very good and well prepared so we could fully enjoy the adventure. David is not only super friendly but also incredibly competent. He told us many exciting things about Nicaragua, nature and the volcano. So we learned a lot in addition to the fun. The Volcano boarding itself was a really cool and unique experience and definitely a highlight of our trip. We particularly liked the fact that you can influence the speed of boarding yourself, depending on how brave you are 😄 Highly recommended. Thank you, David, for this unforgettable experience!

5.00From the start it was good, contact and arranging the trip all went smooth. At the agreed time we were picked up at the hotel. During the drive the guide explained allot of the environment and Vulcano! The walk and views where beautiful and the Vulcano boarding was exciting! We really enjoyed the tour and would recommend booking with nica nica tours!

5.00We had a great experience hiking the volcano! Our guide, David, was well spoken and well educated in the geology of the area. While not the cheapest endeavor at $260 for a family of 4, it was worth the private tour and we are very glad we had the experience!

5.00Our family took a private hike plus volcano boarding with Nica Nica tours while on vacation! It was an absolutely amazing experience! Our guide, David, provided so much education on the country, landscape, and volcanoes while on the drive and tour. He was very attentive to us and making sure we had everything we needed. His English was fantastic! David took many photos of us on the tour and I appreciated this tremendously - they were absolutely stunning! (We will be using one for our family Christmas card!!) The safety gear included everything we needed to be safe while hiking and boarding down. (Helmet, goggles, bandana, suit, gloves, board, and water). We did pay a gentleman $20 (US) to carry our boards and that was a great choice! David and driver (safe and professional), stopped at a fruit stand beforehand to buy some watermelon and bananas for us afterwards. We were beyond thankful for that! David picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel in Las Penitas. I would highly recommend this company and tour and would definitely do this again. Next time we will do the sunset hike!

5.00Eduaro was an absolutely amazing guide! The best guide we’ve ever had a fabulous day and we’d recommend it to anyone. All costs were included and our guide even took my phone around with us to document the day for us meaning we could completely immerse ourselves in the experience. Small group sizes which we loved, looked like a much more personal experience than other groups at the volcano.

5.00As a solo traveler, I had difficultly with all of my bookings until I found Nica Nica Tours. David picked me up from the airport and was also on my boarding trip. I learned a lot from him and made a great friend. You can always tell who has love for their country and I appreciate everything he did for me during my stay in Nicaragua. I would recommend this company to anybody! Great people. The photos he captured along the way were fantastic. Taking back many memories.
