What To Expect

Waitomo Glowworm Caves

The Glow worm known as Arachnocampa Luminosa, is unique to New Zealand. Thousands of these tiny creatures radiate their unmistakable luminescent light as your expert guide will provide information on the Cave’s historical and geological significance. The caves were formed over 30 million years ago and comprises 2 levels. The upper level is dry and includes the entrance to the caves and formations known as the Catacombs. On the lower level are stream passages and the Cathedral, walk from the upper level to a 45 minutes boat journey through the starry wonderland of the Glowworm Grotto. Walk through the majestic Cathedral Cove famous for its acoustics. Your return journey would be through The Waikato farming region with the different animals that you would see along the way, partly following New Zealand’s longest river. An additional attraction will be added on route time permitting Drop off: Your trip will conclude at your hotel or cruise ship.

It was a great trip. We enjoyed seeing the glow worms and our driver Kris was amazing. Not only was he a good driver, but he also very nice and easy to talk to. When we headed back to Auckland he gave us suggestions of things to do based on what all we had talked about that we had already done in NZ. We took his suggestions and asked to be dropped off at Mt. Eden. Kris was right, very nice view and we got some nice pictures. Then we walked to the Winter Garden, which was another of his suggestions. Had a great day and would definitely book with him again if we are ever back in NZ.

Kris was very attentive and took good care of us. The caves were very interesting. Nice tour . The lunch was a buffet lunch and very tasty. Kris took us on a drive through the city too as we only had one day in port. Very nice trip

What an excellent tour , we chose a private tour with black car tours. The narrative of our guide was a constant companion as to the history of New Zealand with present day New Zealand as we were driven to the caves. The cave itself is surrounded by bushes and has underground streams, it was a starry experience as we glided in the boat amongst other tourists. Looking at the glowing tiny worms on the cave walls and roof. Awesome experience!

A great day filled with the Narrative of our tour guide/ driver as we were driven through the rolling hills and farmland of rural New Zealand in a black luxury Van, with a great selection of snacks and New Zealand Water. And then an awe inspiring experience. Impressed with the professional moving deliverance of the presentation our guide Shawnee shared with us at Waitomo Glowworm caves, with the tiny little light like experience of the Glowworms in their hundreds. Highly recommend this tour with Chris

These caves are absolutely stunning, the walls are white looks like snow and the stalactites and stalagmites are incredible. Seeing the glowworms from above on the boat ride in the darkness is simply incredible. Our tour became more interesting with the luxury of black cars and the informative driver/ guide, would recommend this Black Car Transfers and tours, awesome service.

The whole experience was fantastic! Black car transfers and tours was the way to go. The car was very nice, clean and a smooth ride. Kris, or driver and guide was great! He was very friendly, had a great conversation and he provided a lot of information on New Zealand, and other activities we can look into for the rest of our trip. Would definitely book another tour with Kris and black car. The caves were fascinating and the guides were knowledge and patient with all the guests. A must do day trip.
Private chauffeur to and from, is the way to go.

Glowworms cave are only found in NZ. the Waitomo are the highest recommended. A must see, well run and presentation was perfect. You must book early it is always full, do not miss out. Great private chauffeur to and from the pier is the perfect way to and from.

Kris was a wonderful guide. He picked us up from airport, took us to highlights of Auckland, then drove us to the glow worm caves. The ability to customize our day was great! He was very professional, but personal. The car was beautiful and stocked with water and snacks! I would highly recommend Kris for your guide!
