After the garden Introduction - First Enter the only semi-underground Basilica in Rome, dedicated to the martyrs Nereus and Achilleus, and to Saint Petronilla, daughter of Saint Peter. This church was built at a time when Christianity was illegal. Learn the secret signs and symbols of the early Christians and how they avoided detection from persecutions. 5.00I knew nothing of how the catacombs were formed so it was great to have our lovely guide Sean give us a very thorough breakdown of how they came to be. If you’re a history buff or just curious then either way it’s worth it. Shame we couldn’t take any pictures as it’s a cool place.
