In this tour, you will discover the magic of the city by visiting the medieval Bazaar, the highlight of the city Argjiro Castle, and one of the best-preserved houses, the Zekate House. Starting at Cerciz Topulli Square with our local guide, we continue toward the Old Bazaar, stopping at the Neck of Bazaar, where we meet artisans working with old methods, and head toward the Castle. The 2.5-hectare castle, full of history, tragedy, and legends, will be explained by the guide. You’ll be 330 meters above sea level, enjoying breathtaking views of Gjirokastra, the typical tower houses covered with grey stone, usually two or three floors. The last stop is the Zekate House, a gift by Ali Pasha Tepelena to his accountant, Beqir Zeko. This tour aims to let you experience the unique, magical, and friendly atmosphere of Gjirokastra, not just visit popular attractions.

Our tour guide was energetic, well informed and engaging. We visited the castle above Gjirokaster and an old mansion . Both were lovely. In summary, I would recommend.

Bieren (? spelling) was excellent. Besides being a great guy, he has an obvious passion for the history of what we were seeing, and could expound off of any question we asked. Quite enjoyable.

The guide was very knowledgable. We had a lot of questions as 2 couples from different backgrounds(Australian and German). We especially lined the peaceful Zekate house and are still a little sorry, that we did not haf the opportunitiy to try the homemade Rakei

City to visit with very beautiful views. The history of the country, like it or not, starts from here and unfolds from here. To be seen!
