It was a great experience! Our driver took the time to show us everything and explain. He even made the safari last so we could observe elephants. Animals are free and respected! Thank you.

Wasgamuwa national park is fabulous & very unspoilt. It’s truly ‘the wild’ - we saw wonderful birds, a crocodile & majestic bull elephants as well herds of females, which were very close - including an elephant with tusks. Having done a safari at another park, this park is very much seeing animals in their natural habitat. The animals are more wary of humans, as there are far fewer jeeps, so sightings are much more special. You may see more or you may see less, but what you see will be more fulfilling - but photos are harder to capture! Late afternoon safaris are better as the animals are more likely to be visible at this time. Would strongly recommend a visit to this park and this driver.

Great safari! Driver with a good eye and lots of knowledge about the flora and fauna. Would definitely recommend. The park is also not very crowded. We saw elephants!

We had such an incredible experience as Wasgamuwa. If, like us, you’ve been put off the idea of Yala because of the crowds, we’d strongly recommend doing a tour here with Hansika and the team at Lakpura. Booking was super easy and the tour was really well organised. We opted for a private tour for just the two of us and our driver Sajith was great. He showed us around the park, pointing out things we couldn't see and was really knowledgeable about the different animals. The pace of the tour was perfect as well. Kept us moving through at the beginning but stopped for us to watch the sunset and spend more time anywhere we wanted. The biggest highlight was when we were able to sit with a family of elephants metres away from the jeep for 30 minutes. The magic of Wasgamuwa is that, for a lot of that time, it was only our jeep there! It was a genuinely magical half an hour that really made our trip to Sri Lanka special.

We (2 adults and children 5 and 7 years old) were picked up at 06:00 am by driver and guide Sajith for a 3 hour morning safari in Wasagamuwa. He was seen as a steady driver. He showed us many birds and we got to see a lot of the natural areas both open landscape and dense forest, and we were taken to the river Mahaweli. Incredibly beautiful landscape! We saw no animals until the end of our time, but then we met on a flock of elephants of 5-6 individuals, both baby elephants and mothers. We got very close, it was huge! Our guide also found a python snake that we were able to see just before driving out of the park! The morning felt cool in the open car, so a sweater may be advisable to take on the trip. I would like a little more information about the national park, and a little more about the animals, the season we were in and what we could expect/not expect from our trip in advance. There were very few other visitors in the park, we met on 3 other safaris during our three hours on safari, so here you can get the feeling of being alone in nature if you are traveling at the right time.

Great afternoon in the national park, led by Shameera (+94 76 481 0350 and WhatsApp). Many animals almost up close: elephants, crocodiles, buffaloes, parrots, mongooses and many more. Well explained and with many animals Shameera also knew the German name. And in addition, fast, effective repair of the jeep tire, in which a thick nail was stuck, by a rubber/wire plug. Impressive! Highly recommended the tour in the national park and Shameera as a guide. Christoph

We had such a wonderful morning at Udawalawe National Park with Lahiru . We were very lucky and saw a great number of elephant groups in the first couple of hours of our visit. Lahiru was very knowledgeable about the area, and knew how to find the quieter viewing spots and routes to see the families of elephants. Especially helpful with my young family. We did not feel crowded or rushed, and had amazing close opportunities with the elephants. Lahiru was also very knowledgeable about the birds and other creatures in the park. All details had been arranged well in advance, with pick up and drop off scheduled well. Thank you Lahiru, we would definitely recommend your expertise to others. Contact details +94762726799

We had a great safari with lahiru as our guide. We received a small sweet local snack at the start at 6 am. Our guide lahiru spotted a lot of animals we weren’t able to spot, from small insects, birds, crocodiles and elephants. In the 4h safari we did a big tour on our own. Staying away from others drivers to enjoy the peace from nature. 10/10 would recommend!
