Ferme D'hougoumont
Stop At: Ferme d’Hougoumont, Chemin du Goumont 1, Braine-l'Alleud 1420, Belgium Discover the strategic importance of Hougoumont in Wellington’s defensive lines and gain insight into the fierce battle that took place there on June 18, 1815. Learn about the troops defending and attacking the fortified farmhouse, as well as the dramatic events that unfolded throughout the day.
Butte Du Lion
The Lion's Mound, standing tall over the former battlefield, serves as a tribute to the Allies' victory over Napoleon's imperial forces. Perched atop the 40-meter hill, the majestic lion appears to roar defiantly toward France to this day. The farm was heavily fortified and became the focal point of intense fighting throughout the battle. Napoleon saw it as a weak point in Wellington’s defenses and launched repeated attacks, but British and allied troops, including the Coldstream Guards and Nassau troops, successfully defended it. The fierce combat at Hougoumont was key to Wellington’s victory, as it tied up significant French forces and weakened their overall assault. Today, Hougoumont Farm is preserved as part of the Waterloo Battlefield Memorial, offering visitors a glimpse into one of the most decisive moments in European history.

The tour was very informative and thorough. We were given the tour in a comfortable van with an excellent driver. Our guide was amazing and started with facts and information from the time we left our hotel to the time we returned. I would recommend this tour to anyone who loves history.

Our guide was very knowledgeable about Waterloo and the city of Brussels. He was very punctual and organized. I learned many great things about that time in history. We enjoyed this tour very much!

Nice place, we had a problem going in the farm. there were a few brits blacking the doors we asked if we can come in but they declined. so we gave them the old 1800 treatment and tested presented and fired. They retried back into the farm. All in all grate place but needs better customer support

The Waterloo tour brought the famous battle to life, standing where Napoleon fought was surreal. Climbing the Lions Hill gave us stunning views, and our guide’s stories made everything so vivid.

I only wanted to go up to the lion's mound but everything is closed off. You have to go through the museum and buy a ticket for 23€ which allows you to visit the entire memorial museum, panorama, mini train. The price is correct for everything but it's a shame that you can't choose what you want to do. In addition, dogs are prohibited so we cannot visit anything.

The tour guide (Marie) was lovely and provided interesting points about Belgium’s history and other sites as we passed. HOWEVER the price is exorbitant given that the guide does NOT accompany you at the battle site itself (the museum there does not permit it). So you are essentially paying for car service, waters, and a few tidbits of information. Take Ubers and use the audio guide at the museum instead! This is a WASTE of money. It is NOT a private tour.

What more history... In your cinema you will have the illusion of being at the heart of the battle. Climbing the stairs is a challenge, but worth the sacrifice. Not to mention your museum.
