Ayu gave great insight into the cultural connection between the different fabrics, how they are made and where they come from. The shops we visited showed a variety of good quality and interesting fabric types and the shop keepers were happy to share their knowledge with us.

This was the most rewarding experience I’ve ever done in relation to sewing. Ayu is the most beautiful person and has an amazing amount of knowledge of fabrics. Nothing was too much trouble - our tour went over time by 1.5 hours because of the information and local knowledge of stores she took us to. I couldn’t recommend this trip more for someone who is into sewing, quilting or just someone who loves fabrics and knowledge of fabrics.

What a great afternoon with Ayu! Her knowledge of textiles in Indonesia is extensive and she was able to show me examples of so many as we walked around. I plan to bring friends back and we will certainly tour again with Ayu.

Ayu was knowledgeable, friendly and made this such a great experience. I highly recommend this tour. If you are a designer, sewer, quilter, or are just interested in textiles you will love this tour. I came away with an incredible collection of batik and Ikat. I will re-book when I am next in Bali!

What a fantastic tour! This was my favourite activity in Bali. I admired and bought so much beautiful fabric! Ayu is a brilliant tour guide and a real expert on Indonesian fabrics. She tailored the tour to my interests and made sure to show me unique things. The silk sarongs were a particular highlight (pictured). I felt much more confident buying things with Ayu helping with communication and preventing any tourist surcharges.

This was definitely a top shelf experience with a very knowlegable guide who was able to navigate through a myriad of textile stores and exihibitions. We would have been totally lost without the expert help and my wife it has been the highlight of the visit. Well, it is very clear that our return visit next year will have this on the top of list. Absolutely and amzing and looking forward to cooking classes also next year. We ended up wih a full case of textiles which we had not even planned to do. This was a real gem of a visit. We would be totally remiss if we did not laud compliments on our tour guide and walking us through the markets. What can we say A+++++ Kind regards Kuku and Carol, Whakatane, New Zealand

Super interesting tour, with a local guide. Ayu is genuinely happy to modify the stops to your individual interests. Fabulous English; and knowledge of local techniques.

Ayu took me to several shops along and around Jalan Sulawesi and explained the traditions and cultural differences about the fabrics and designs of Bali and neighbouring islands. The owners showed us the stamps that were used in stamping fabrics, the hand printed ones, the significance of gold thread and the school uniforms. There was no rush and no pressure to buy anything at all. I wouldn’t have gone alone because there is too much fabric choice, lots of quilt packs, cottons, linen, silks and I would probably get lost there. This was a very enjoyable experience and Ayu speaks perfect English and waited for my Grab car to arrive to return me to Legian.
