Westcoast Treetop Walk & Tower Zipline
Finding your way here is simple as we are just 15 minutes south of Hokitika as you head to Franz Josef Glacier. Once you are in our car park you will see the Cafe, Gift Shop and Ticketing all located in the building just a short stroll over Johnny's Creek. Once you have your ticket for the Tree Top Walk the team will brief and supply you with a self guiding brochure. There is a 300 meter up hill walk (on site transport is available) and as you progress along you will see the walkway structure and the majestic Lake Mahinapua. Your brochure guide will supply you great detail about the surrounding area, trees and wildlife. Along the entire walk there are a number of interruption panels providing you additional information. To get the full benefit and enjoyment of the walk, after all you are on holiday, the walk will take around 45 minutes, but you can take all day up to closing if you wish. The walk is suitable for all ages and is accessible for strollers and wheelchairs.

Wonderfully constructed walkway. Peaceful and gentle walk. A bit of a climb to get to and from walk, but good exercise. Did have assistance if requested. Great Cafe for meal of snack. Beautiful food, all homemade - even my nachos, which were to die for. Buy tickets in town at Information Centre - a little cheaper.

We enjoyed a beautiful early morning walk through the canopy on a sunny, cold winter’s morning and it was just lovely! Peaceful, picturesque, and quiet. The views really are fabulous, and to get up close to trees and see ferns from a height is nothing short of wonderful. However, the price for two adults ($78) was a bit steep; I appreciate that there’s upkeep, staff, and maintenance to consider, though for a short loop, it was spendy. Our coffee and toasties in the cafe afterwards were a great mid-morning snack. Top tip: Go at around opening time to have the walk (almost) to yourselves. Watch out for the potholes as you drive in and out. Some are quite deep, and could damage your vehicle if not avoided / driven through with slow care.

Wonderful view of the area. It is a pleasant walk among the trees with 11 viewing stops including a very high platform with almost 360 degree views of the mountains and the sea. It is really helpful to read the pamphlet they give you before the walk. The structured walkways are well designed. One of the best parts of the walk is hearing the birds. The walk took us around thirty minutes. The walk to the entrance of the walk can be a little steep. The staff is lovely. They have a nice cafe and gift shop. I only had a cappuccino and it was good.

Ok so my 12y daughter was very excited anc looking forward to a thrill. ( certainly no height fears for her) we arrived and was told she was 500g too light for the zipline. We decided to flag the zip and just do the tree walk. Which was OK...but somewhat disappointing. I have to say the nz PC safety police gave over speckd and over priced this tree walk. We have had better experiences and lower prices in taupo. Rotorua and over seas... Kind of pleased we skipped the zipp

A fantastic activity for all ages. The information and views were excellent. Back at the building, the facilities were also great as were the staff and the food. Recommend that people spend some time there.

If you are afraid of heights, your limits will be tested on this trip. Not just being high up. You can also see through what you walk on. But there is a good view and it is worth the trip. There was good information around the trip.

An absolute must do. Using the walkway at your own pace above the canopy gives you a unique perspective of the forest. Useful pamphlet with information at various stops very useful. Great cafe at the base was excellent.

We thoroughly enjoyed the treetop walk and decided to therefore treat ourselves to the zip line experience too. Well worth the trip back up the hill to fly back down again on the zip line
