  Really amazing experience to able to visit the Great Chinese wall from a non tourist part of it. A part that nature took over with all its greenery. Dominic was very friendly and told us a little about the history during the hike. I could tell he is very passionate about his job. He took along his sweet dog Breezy which I personally loved!   Our hike along the Huanghua Wild Great Wall was extraordinary. If you're looking for an authentic, crowd-free experience of the Great Wall, far from the usual tourist hotspots, this is the one to book! Shao, our guide, was great– warm, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the natural beauty of the area. His skill helped us (two beginning hikers and our 11-year old son) to navigate a few tricky spots along the way. He took stops as needed and clearly knows the area like the back of his hand. The hike was an invigorating mix of challenge and serenity, with panoramic views that were breathtaking. We climbed unrestored sections of the Wall that wove through forested hills, giving us a real sense of the Wall’s scale. During over 3 hours of hiking we had the entire Wall to ourselves. Shao made sure everyone felt safe and comfortable, pacing the hike to match our needs. We left with incredible photos, tired legs, and a deep appreciation for the Great Wall – not just as a monument, but as a living piece of history. Highly recommended for adventurous travelers who want to experience the Wall in an unfiltered and unforgettable way. Easily one of the highlights of our trip to China!

  We had the most incredible experience hiking up the wild section of the Great Wall of China with our guide, Dominic. He picked us up directly from our hotel in a comfortable car, and we drove about two hours out of Beijing to the starting point of the hike. From the very beginning, it was clear we were in for something special. The hike started gently, winding alongside quiet streams. It was peaceful and scenic—already a world away from the busy city. Then came the more challenging part: a steep climb that really got the heart pumping (sometimes on all fours). But reaching the top of the Wall made it all worth it. The section we explored was wild and dramatic (sometimes surrounded by blossoms) with steep sections that we scrambled up and down as we made our way toward the sunset viewing point. The best part? There were no tourists in sight—just a small group of locals, Dominic, and us. In total, maybe 10 people were there to witness the absolutely stunning sunset over the Wall. It was quiet, serene, and truly magical. Dominic was not only a great guide but also kind, thoughtful, and full of insights about life in China. His adorable dog, Breezy, came along for the hike too, adding even more joy to the experience. After the hike, Dominic generously shared some local recommendations—including where to go for a great hot pot—and then dropped us back in Beijing at the restaurant. Seeing the Great Wall like this, away from the crowds and immersed in nature, was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We couldn’t recommend it more! • Perfect Sunset Hike on the Wall

  The Sunset hike was everything I hoped for and more. Perfect English speaking guide. Walked all alone (with the guide, of course) over a partly unrepaired part of the Wall. Strenuous but doable. Being able to take very nice pictures also during the ‘Golden Hour’. If you love photography and/or a Wall Hike with beautiful views, hidden gems and a ‘back-in-time feeling’ this is highly recommended. 5+ from me.

  With friends, the Great Wall of the Wild is indeed more interesting than the Great Wall of Attractions. Hiking is a bit of a throwaway, some sections require hands and feet, but it's also fun! Guide Dom is particularly familiar with the route and is also good at regulating the atmosphere, which is relaxed and pleasant along the way. Very recommended.

  What an amazing and awe-inspiring day! The Yellow Flower Great Wall hike with Dom is a day out to remember. We went last week, early April, and the mountains were cloaked in white blossom, making them look almost as if they were covered in a light dusting of snow. The hike, which sometimes became a bit of a scramble, was enormous fun and you got a real sense of achievement to reach the top and gaze across the mountain peaks. Dom was an excellent guide, very personable and easy-going, yet a real professional. There was never a problem if you wanted to stop to take photos, or for a breather - and we did both plenty of times! Despite the effort required, Dom somehow managed to make the day relaxing, perhaps because there was no rush and we could just do it at our own pace. • An Amazing Wild Wall Hike!

  I went on a Wild Wall hike in April led by Dom from Our Beijing and it was amazing! I organized the hike because my brother was visiting Beijing and really wanted to see the Great Wall and not just go to the touristy sections. We went with two other friends and we had so much fun seeing the wall and really experiencing the natural beauty of the Great Wall! It's so amazing to walk through the ruins and see how much of the wall is still intact. It'll be a lasting highlight of my time living in Beijing! Dom did an excellent job of guiding us and showing us where we could see some different cool sights! He was also super friendly and just great to hang out with! I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for adventure on a trip to Beijing!

  I've been to most of the tourist sections of the great wall and I wanted to see some of the less touristy sections. I've been on other tours with Our Beijing, so when they started these wild wall hikes, I booked with some friends to go. It was amazing. We drove through winding mountain roads to reach a remote village where we parked up and hiked to the wall. The views were perfect and we hiked along parts of the wall that looked really old and authentic. A magical experience which I will be doing again when friends visit me in Beijing.
