  This was, without a doubt, one of the most memorable experiences I had in Portugal. From the very first moment, everything felt thoughtfully curated and deeply personal. The day began with a comfortable pick-up and a scenic drive of about an hour and a half, which flew by as we followed the iconic N222 road. The views were absolutely breathtaking, and Rita knew exactly where to stop—hidden viewpoints I would never have found on my own, offering quiet, intimate panoramas of the Douro at its most authentic. Rita Teixeira is truly exceptional. More than a guide, she is a storyteller, a local ambassador, and someone whose love for the Douro is felt in every word she speaks. Her knowledge is vast, but what really sets her apart is the way she shares it—with warmth, passion, and genuine pride. Listening to her felt like being welcomed into a personal world shaped by history, wine, and deep-rooted tradition. The private wine tasting in the Alto Douro was outstanding. Set in a traditional estate surrounded by terraced vineyards and silence, it felt incredibly exclusive and peaceful. The wines were excellent, and the insights shared made the tasting even more meaningful. It wasn’t just about drinking wine—it was about understanding the land, the people, and the legacy behind each bottle. One of the highlights of the day was the Douro River cruise aboard a classic wooden boat. Gliding slowly along the river, surrounded by majestic hills and vineyards, was almost surreal. It was calm, beautiful, and gave us a completely different perspective of the valley. Lunch in was the perfect ending. Being welcomed into a family-owned vineyard house felt like being invited into someone’s home. The rustic, homemade food was delicious, paired beautifully with regional white and red wines. The tasting of a 10-year-old Tawny Port and a Vintage Port was a real treat. This tour is not just about seeing the Douro—it’s about feeling it. Thanks to Rita, the day felt authentic, intimate, and deeply special. I couldn’t recommend this experience more to anyone looking to truly connect with the soul of the Douro Valley.

  Rita, was an excellent tour guide. She gave insightful information throughout the tour to include the harvesting of cork tree bark as well as the history of Douro Valley and surrounding areas. Additionally, the winery Rita selected for us to tour was amazing as well as the restaurant we stopped at for lunch. Bottom line, Rita is an awesome tour guide.

  We had an amazing day of experiences, the Douro and the Quintas we visited are amazing. The cherry on top of the cake is Rita, with all sympathy, who made us feel like family, with her good disposition and incredible knowledge. I highly recommend. Thank you Rita.

  I have known Rita for many years, for her connection to classical music. All the enormous culture, delicacy and dedication that were his trademark in the sale of instruments are revealed once again in this experience. I highly recommend.
