We meet at the meeting point, where your guide welcomes you and the group. After a quick introduction (how to use the snowshoes and poles, what to expect, and a few tips to move efficiently), we get ready to head into the snow. Once everyone’s set, we start walking through Lofoten’s winter landscape. It’s easy and suitable for all levels, but still feels like an adventure, especially if it’s your first time walking on snowshoes. You’ll get used to the rhythm quickly, and soon you’ll be moving over soft snow, past frozen lakes and quiet valleys that feel completely untouched. We often stop along the way. Sometimes to catch your breath, sometimes because the view is just too good to ignore. Your guide will share stories about the area and life up here in winter, and maybe even show you how to test the snow or spot animal tracks. After about three hours, we return to the starting point, usually with red cheeks, a few good laughs, and the feeling of having lived a small arctic adventure. The kind that makes you feel alive without pushing your limits.
