If you’re into the wizard of oz memorabilia, this is a fun way to spend some time. The museum tour is self-guided with QR codes on each display case. There is a lot of good history about the early (before the movie) productions and just how many books LFrank Baum wrote. There were quite a few collectibles from the 80’s and 90’s that I could have skipped. There was a little information on the spin-off movies “The Wiz” and “Return to Oz.” Virtually nothing on the “Wicked” books, musicals, and movies, much to my disappointment. There are some mannequins of the characters and some disturbing flying monkeys (taxidermied baboons with wings) for photo ops. The highlight of the museum is the immersive video room. There must have been 30 projectors set up pointing at all 4 walls and the floor. It plays a 360 degree projection on a continuous loop for about 30 min. When the last people in front of us left, leaving only my daughter and me in the room, we had a blast, running and dancing through the room, which is pretty much encouraged. :) I hope there weren’t any cameras in there.

This place showed us the evolving story of how L Frank Baum's vision came to life. We really enjoyed ourselves with all the interactive exhibits.

If you like the Wizard of Oz at all, this museum is worth the stop. Reasonably priced and run by a family, it has a great collection! Several copies of original editions of the Wizard of Oz books, ornaments, puppets, figurines, if it was made it the image of someone in Oz, it's probably here. There is also an interactive display featuring both the Wizard of Oz and Van Gogh paintings. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable.

An impressive collection of Wizard of Oz memorabilia, both movie and book and everything else under the sun. We found some new favorite characters, like the Patchwork Girl, the Saw Horse, and the Giant Horse of Oz. The immersive experience was somewhat bizarre. There was one scene where the lion is being pulled by mice, and in that scene the lion appears on the floor as well as two walls at the same time, which was strange. At one point they showed images taken by the James Webb space telescope, which were pretty, but only tangentially connected to Oz. The overall animations did not look very high quality. Additionally, there were AI generated images on some of the items in the gift shop, which was somewhat off putting. There was also a “children’s room” which was a dark closet with a video and a few toys. I would recommend this museum for the memorabilia, but not great for kids unless they like Oz and looking at items behind glass.

The immersion experience was outstanding . Loved all the memorabilia, cute glitter red shoe wine bottle holder. Did not know there were so many books.
