Xi'an City Wall (Chengqiang)
You will meet at an easy-to-find central location and then wind your way through the narrow streets and alleys by tuktuk within the Xi’an City Wall to find the best food in the city. We’ll take you places where only locals go. You’ll cover a lot of ground and get off the beaten path to family-run restaurants that you (and other tourists) won’t find on your own. Between food stops, you’ll be able to chat with your English-speaking guide about the city while drinking unlimited chilled beer and soda during the ride.
Muslim Quarter
While visiting our 4-5 food stops, you will get to learn about the families that have been making their specialties for generations. You’ll watch your food being made and learn about what makes it so special to Xian locals. Whether it’s sitting by an old man grilling meat over coals in a quaint Muslim Quarter alleyway, or watching noodles hand-pulled to order, there is something to try for everyone. The tour will finish at the only local brewery in Xian where you can tour the facility and sample what’s on tap before we treat you to a pint of your choice.

This was so much fun! Our guide, Jane, was super nice local. She explained about, not only food we tasted, but also background about the dish and local culture. Since we were already foot-sore from a day of touring, we loved that the tuk tuks zipped down the small streets and alleys so we didn't have to do too much walking. More than half of the things we tasted were on my "Xi'an - Eats" list. It was great to get a sampling of different things. I highly recommend this for anyone who has never been to Xi'an and want try a variety local specialty dishes. This is what we had (though experience may vary from tour to tour, guide to guide), and they were all fresh and delicious: - Biang Biang Noodles - Sour Plum Drink - Lamb Skewers - Beef Skewers - Grilled "Mo" (unleavened local bread topped with sauce, sesame and cumin) - Eight Treasure Porridge (lightly sweetened soup filled with nuts and seeds) - Liang Pi (cold wheat starch noodles) - Soup-filled Dumplings (in 2 flavors) - Cold Woodear Mushrooms with Fresh Walnuts - Fu Tea (made from fu plant) - Fried Flat Bread - Carrot Salad - Saucy Meatballs, Fried Gluten and Mixed Local Vegetables Over Sizzling Rice - Hulu Chicken (twice cooked crispy chicken) - Yellow Wine - Beer (at a brewery) Tuk tuk driver also offered us cans of beer and soda once we were outside the Muslim District (where alcohol was prohibited).

This tour was thoughtfully planned out. From the different food stops to traveling around in the tuk tuk, it made the experience seamless. My guide Amber was enthusiastic and energetic which makes the biggest difference between a good tour to a great tour. Highly recommend this tour but please make sure you come hungry!

Best food tour we have ever done!! This tour takes you to hidden gems in Xi’an that we would have never found on our own. Amber our guide was very informed on all the dishes, as well as providing guidance on the best way to eat some of them too! Highly recommend taking this tour if you’re in Xi’an

A fantastic evening in Xian. This tour was a great way to explore the city by Tuk Tuk, whilst enjoying all the local foods. Our guide, Jerry was awesome! He was very friendly and gave us lots of information about the city and the food we were eating, and made sure we had a night to remember! All of the food was delicious! May sure you arrive hungry because we couldn't eat it all! It was easy to find the pick-up point and to get a taxi home at the end. As a lover of craft beer, the last stop at the bar, which included a pint was a great inclusion. Highly recommend!
