We toured Xi’an for two-days in late August 2025 through Catherine Lu tours. Our tour experience was great and I would recommend it for anyone interested in Xi’an’s history. The tour was good because of our excellent tour guide Agnes and our driver Chau. Agnes was nice, informative, descriptive, and excited to teach us about everything we were touring. She took us to local restaurants that had tasty and authentic Xi’an cuisine. For context, our group is a family of four from the US, including two kids 9 and 12 years old. During the first day of our tour, we saw the Terra Cotta Warriors, the adjacent mausoleum museum, the Hanyang tomb, and a live show that described the silk road. Agnes described the warriors and their history in detail, answered all our questions, and just as important, explained that we must be aggressive and look for any tiny gaps to get to the railing. At other times she would ask other people to move out of the way for us so we could get a better look and take good pictures. After the warriors exhibit, we went to the lesser visited mausoleum, and later in the day took us to the Hanyang Tomb exhibits. All were excellent and Agnes did a wonderful job explaining the exhibits in great detail. Lunch was at a local restaurant that was great. Agnes helped us order, recommended dishes, and made sure we were well taken care of. We spent the second day at an archaeology museum and the Dayan pagoda. Agnes did a great job at both places and again helped us with lunch at an authentic Xi’an restaurant. The lunch budget was ample and we were all full and happy. Beyond the tours she’d give us restaurant suggestions for dinner. She’d suggest places to go to buy souvenirs at a good price (vs. just taking us to the souvenir shops). Our drive Chau (spelling?) was wonderful too – an expert driver, very pleasant, got us to our destinations safely and quickly. P.S. for TripAdvisor staff - - this is not AI generated! I wrote it myself along with my son sitting right next to me. You guys have flagged me twice already, and I've taken a third attempt at getting rid of what might possibly be looked at as AI generated.

Perfect tour to visit both the terracotta warriors and the semi-unknown, but no less interesting, site of the tomb of the Jingdi Emperor. The latter completely snubbed by tourist groups: unlike the Xi'an site here we were practically alone. Richard, the guide who accompanied us, turned out to be a great a great cicero, nice and full of anecdotes

Grace is a very informative and engaging guide. She made the trip interesting for my 2 young boys. Joined Catherine Lu tours again for Xi’an after a previous wonderful experience with Sonia in forbidden palace from same agency.

Tina was our lovely tour guide who showed us around at the Terracotta Warriors and the Hanyang tomb of Jingdi. We were picked up in a very nice car in front of our hotel. We had a fantastic day! Tina made sure we understood everything very well and she took the time to answer all of our questions. She was a very happy lady so we had a lot of fun. We recommend this tour to everyone, especially with Tina as a tourguide.

It was definitely one of the most beautiful tours chosen. Our guide Rosa managed to make us know the history of China. Her attentiveness directed us to other special attractions. An incredibly good guide. The driver was also very attentive. All in all an unforgettable experience

I booked this as part of my two-day private tour via the company’s web site. The communication through Jenna was quick and efficient. They also inquire what your area of interest is in order to apply the tour program accordingly. My tour included the terra cotta warriors site, a visit of cave dwelling and Hanyangling mausoleum. My guide, Sun Ping (Sunday) was energetic, competent and helpful. She has a lot of tidbits to tell you beside the common historical facts. She also helped me booked the ticket to Shaanxi historical museum (which I had not known it had to be pre-booked online, not at site) and helped me switch my other tour (with this company) to accommodate the museum visit (which, by the way, is one of the three best museums in China). Thanks a lot, Ms. Sun! If it had not been for you, I would not have had enjoyable days both at the tour sites and at the Shaanxi museum.

The lady tour guide is well conversant in English and Mandarin. She is rich in her wealth of knowledge of Chinese history as we moved from the Terra-cotta Army museum to Hua Qing Temple for a half day tour (with lots of walking). She has made the explanations so detailed and enjoyable that we savoured every little bit of information from her to deepen our own understanding of this “8th wonder of the world”.
