Xunantunich

Xunantunich is one of Belize’s most impressive Maya sites, once home to powerful rulers and remarkable discoveries—including Belize’s largest Maya royal tomb found in 2016. Your journey starts in San Jose Succotz, where you’ll cross the Mopan River on a hand-cranked ferry before arriving at the ancient city. The site is dominated by El Castillo, a 130-foot pyramid dedicated to the Maya Sun God and the second-tallest Maya structure in Belize.
