Depart for a day of Mayan historical adventure to see one of the finest Maya Ruins in Belize.

Xunantunich Mayan ruin, also known as the “Maiden of the Rock” is the second tallest Mayan ruin in Belize. The largest pyramid, El Castillo stands 130 feet high above the main plaza and offers an impressive panoramic view of the Cayo District, Guatemala, and the Mopan River. The site has been largely excavated and has a well-appointed educational museum.

Experience an authentic Belizean lunch in the immediate area of the ruins.

Now we make our way to Cave Tubing @ St. Herman's Cave. This is a combination of cave exploration and cave tubing to explore this incredible river cave system. Imagine the excitement as you drift downriver, your body tucked in an inflated inner tube, your fingers trailing in the crisp clear river and up head is the vine-draped opening of mysterious cave.

I’m so glad we decided to do both tours the same day. We got to experience and learn about so much of Belize during these two different excursions and Alden our tour guide was amazing! He even stopped for us to get ice cream on our way back. It was an amazing day! Do yourself a favor and book this tour.

From our morning pick up, through the tour of the ruins and the tubing, everything was done efficiently, but without rush. We had plenty of time to explore, and all drivers and guides were friendly and knowledgable.

The ruins were very interesting and one of our favorite excursions on this trip. The cave tubing was a nice cool down for the end of the day.

Our driver brought us to both activities where local guides took over. All the guides were well-informed & did a great job explaining things to us & keeping us safe. You learn about Mayan culture both at the ruins, where the Mayans tried to be closer to heaven and the cave, which they considered a portal to the underworld. Both are beautiful & otherworldly in their own way, provided unique experiences and some exercise (which made up for a very long drive).

We would highly recommend Get To Know Belize Adventures (GTKBA). Josie is so nice and really treated us like family. We were not sure about meeting the minimum group size of 4 with other touring company that was closer to us in Placentia, GTKBA has a minimum of 2! Shane, our driver was awesome and very knowledgeable and we leaned so much about the different areas of Belize we traveled through on our way to the Xunantunich Maya Ruins & Cave Tubing at St. Herman's Cave. It's about a 2.5 hour drive and some of the roads are pretty rough and it was nice to just sit back and enjoy the ride and scenery! Xunantunich is a must see and being able to go all the way to the top was incredible with amazing views!! The water level was a little higher on the cave tubing and was not able to do the full length but it was another experience we would recommend. We also booked a half day snorkeling trip to the Belize Barrier Reef with GTKBA and had a great time with our guides, Medz and Jeff. The 40 minute boat ride to the reef was refreshing along and educational. We learned things we did not know about the 400 mile long reef, the thriving habitatof coral and marine life. GTKBA fulfilled the 3 main reasons for our visit to Belize and will definitely book more tours with them on our next trip!

We greatly enjoyed the knowledge about the Mayan culture that the guide could provide us. He was quite knowledgeable and was able to point out all the different structures and what their purpose was and why they had been built that specific way. We also enjoyed seeing some spider monkeys while looking at the ruins. The tubing was quite enjoyable with a separate but still knowledgeable tour guide occupying us.

We had a wonderful experience on our various get to know Belize tours and shuttle. The highlight was the Anderson lagoon bioluminescence tour - truly an otherworldly experience, we even got to jump in the lagoon and see the bioluminescence sparkling all over us! Every tour guides and driver and coordinator we had was amazing - Víctor , Edgar, Letticia, Greg, Meds (sorry if we’re spelling the name wrong!), Josie, Shane, and Vida. They all were responsible, flexible, extremely knowledgeable, and fun. It felt good knowing we were supporting a local, family-run (and woman owned) business. We also did the Cockscomb basin hike, Xuanituch tour and cave tubing. Highly recommend going with Get to Know Belize for all your Hopkins adventures!
