Kyzart
Make your own way to Kyzart village and meet your guide at the local guesthouse. A Kyrgyz family welcomes you for lunch before the adventure begins. After the meal, you receive a short riding introduction — including how to sit, stop, and guide the horse. No previous horse riding experience is required.
The ride then begins, following open valleys and mountain pastures as the trail gradually climbs into the jailoo — the highland summer pastures used by Kyrgyz shepherds for centuries. After around 3–4 hours in the saddle, you arrive in Kilemche for the night. Accommodation is in a traditional shepherd’s house — simple, authentic, and far from city life. Dinner is served here.

After breakfast, the ride continues toward Song Kul Lake. Today is the longest day of the trek. The trail climbs steadily to the Jalgyz Karagai Pass at 3,400 metres above sea level. Parts of the ascent can feel demanding, but the views across the alpine landscape open wider with every hour.
Song Kol Lake
From the top of the pass, Song Kul appears for the first time — a vast alpine lake surrounded by open grasslands where local nomadic families spend the summer with their livestock. The descent leads to the yurt camp by early afternoon, leaving the rest of the day free to walk by the lake, rest, or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Facilities at the camp are basic but comfortable for the remote location. Dinner is served in the yurt, and on clear nights the stars above Song Kul are unforgettable.

Song Kol Lake
Early mornings at Song Kul are calm and quiet, with mist over the water and horses grazing the surrounding pastures. After breakfast, you saddle up for the final ride. The return route follows a different trail, crossing the Kara-Kiya Pass at approximately 3,400 metres before descending back toward Kyzart village. This loop route offers new scenery and different views rather than retracing the same path.
Kyzart
After around 4 hours on horseback, the trek finishes back at the family guesthouse in Kyzart, where a final lunch is served before departure.

It was a truly incredible experience! I honestly didn't thought places like this don't exist anymore. The views are incredible, horses are great, we had a wonderful stay in Yurts at kind and lovely Kyrgis family and our guide Murat was also super <3 You have to prepare yourself that it's not a turistic region, so the vegetarian option is basically the same as non-vegetarian, just with meat fished-out, the guide speaks only basic english and if you did not take your own water, you'll have to live on tea for 3 days. But did it bother us? No! It only adds the charm of local experience and despite all those I'd give the trip even more stars if I could <3

The team at Datka provided excellent communication and support right from when we first reached out with questions about the tour. They went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our time in Kyrgyzstan. The trek to Song Kul lake is beautiful and we enjoyed our time riding the horses.

I did an overnight horse trek through the snow and it was truly extraordinary. It was definitely not easy with minus 20C plus 50 kph wind, but 1000% worth it. There were no one else at the lake, which made it incredible. My trek guide and the camp manager were attentive and made the yurt comfortable. Even had chess ready for us to play! Can’t recommend this experience enough. More generally, Datka Travel is a very reliable, trustworthy outfit and its owner Talgat, is a great guy, both personally and professionally.

April 6-8, there is snow and ice, horse riding is stimulating but safe. Beautiful scenery, beautiful starry sky.

Would strongly recommend this trip for horsetrekking in Kyrgyzstan! The views were as breathtaking as portrayed. Both the stay in the shepherds hut and in the yurt were comfortable and we greatly appreciated the community and hospitality of the locals inviting us in. Warm clothes and layers were crucial as the temperatures varied between approximately -15°C and +20°C. Our guides Ali and Bek balanced safety and adventure perfectly for a befinner group, with added humour and good mood throughout the trip.

An amazing tour! Our guides Ali and Bek were amazing, giving guidance while maintaining a learning-by-doing atmosphere. The food was great, the length of the horse treks each day as well. Very reasonable prices as well. We were a small group of 5, which was perfect!

We had an excellent 2 days horse trekking trip! Planning was seamless with Datka! The driver who fetched us from the city was super vibe! The hostess family in the village was kind, friendly and provided us a hospitable welcome! Of course the main reason was the horse trekking! We opted for a personal tour, just me and my friend, and a guide who followed us through the 3-4 hours horse trekking journey for day one. We reached our Yurt at Song Kul village and had great pilaf! Made friends from another group who was also based at the yurt stay. The view was amazing in winter! Cold but it was out of this world. I would do it again! If you are reading this review, just book it!

It was absolutely breathtaking! There's no better place to do a horse trek than Kyrgyzstan. Talgat was incredibly professional and facilitated the whole process super smoothly. Our instructor, Molran was a gem of a person and genuinely looked out for us! I would 100% recommend this to anyone who wishes to go to Kyrgyzstan.

The horse trek was an amazing experience! I was picked up at my hostel in Bishkek, and met 3 other travellers that were in my group for the trek. We had lunch, and then the horses arrived to take off. Make sure that you bring all the stuff that you need for the 3 day trek. There was a small miscommunication about that with our group, so two girls ended up having none of their bags. The horses are very sweet and easy to ride, even suitable for beginners. The track is also quite easy, a lot of walking and only a few minutes of galloping at the end of the day on certain areas. The last day descent is very very steep, and was a bit scary at times. The yurts were nice and we were very well fed throughout the whole tour. It’s very cold tho, so pack warm clothes! You have quite some free time on day two at the lake, which was very nice.
