The Himba are a tribe of nomadic pastoralists who live in the Kaokoland region of Namibia. The Himba are descendants of a group of Herero shepherds who fled to the north-west after being displaced by the Nama.

The Himba are indigenous people with an estimated population of about 50,000 in northern Namibia, in the Kunene region and across the Kunene River in Angola.

Okahandja Mbangura Woodcarvers Craft Market

Otjikandero Himba Orphan Village

Otjikandero Himba Village, located near Opuwo in northern Namibia, offers visitors a chance to experience the traditional lifestyle of the Himba people. Known for their distinctive appearance, including ochre-coated skin and intricate hairstyles, the Himba maintain a semi-nomadic pastoral lifestyle. At the village, tourists can learn about their customs, rituals, and daily activities.     We had a wonderful time here with my family. The atmosphere was welcoming, clean, and well organized. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our visit.
