What To Expect
Today, our guide will meet you at the Chengdu airport at 7:30am or any time before 15:00pm then transfer to Chengdu Panda Base, need 40 minutes driving, 36km.
Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding
First, you will visit the Chengdu's Giant Panda Breeding Research Base which is home to over 80 of China's iconic pandas. Most are of the familiar black and white variety, but the Base is also home to a number of the smaller, lesser-known red pandas. You'll view the animals eating and at play in a carefully maintained habitat that is as close to their natural environment as possible. You'll also learn how scientists and ecologists are working to protect the few remaining wild pandas and expand the captive population. On that last note, over 100 bears have been born at the Base since 1987. The Base became even more important after the Sichuan earthquake of 2008, with eight bears sent here from the badly damaged Wolong reserve. Your visit provides both moral and financial support for the ongoing conservation effort.

5.00Wow! What a brilliant way to spend a layover. My daughter and I had the best time with Weaver, our guide. The car (van) was so comfortable and spacious. Weaver was fantastic, adding lots of very interesting information along the way. It wasn’t rushed at all and he let us take our time looking at the sites. We opted to do the panda base and people’s park and both are must sees. We also went out for lunch in between and the food was incredible. Would not have been the same without weaver either, he definitely enhanced our tour 1000%.

5.00he panda base is nice, a beautiful park it’s a shame the weather was cold and everything was written in Chinese without any translation, made it a bit hard to get an orientation. Besides the park, Andy was amazing to organise everything I had an amazing full day out and I enjoyed every step in Chengdu thanks to his advice and his organisation with transports and communication. Andy is a great man and I recommend everyone to get him to organise your day in chengdu you won’t regret anything 👍 Thanks Andy for all the patience :)
