  In principle it’s a great way to see the island, but even with priority bus lanes, the hold ups are dreadful. If I had prior knowledge of this, I think I’d have saved my money and hired a car and avoided the places I wasn’t interested in seeing. It’s very crowded and it’s the same for every bus, which is quite annoying. Some of the headphone sockets don’t work and if you’re downstairs, the view is blocked by advertising stickers.

  A rather pleasant day with very welcoming professionals. However, considering the late departure time with the boat: On the island time is precious and leaves us insufficient time to see in detail.

  First of all it seemed expensive but because you got 3 experiences on 1 ticket we decided to do it. Well the bus takes a stupidly long time to get round the island and you seem to be driving around pointless places. I think we were on the bus for 3.5 hours to do the red route!! As well as this the buses are very infrequent with only 1 stop per hour so If you hop off you only get an hour at the place you stop or have to forfeit being able to do the rest of the tour because they also stop early, especially the red route. And if you want to fit both in on your day ticket you have to catch one bus at 8am and ride the bus round catch the other middle of the day and ride around all day without getting off!! To top it all off, they told us we can use our harbour cruise tickets up to 3 days after we bought them. When we went to use them they refused us on board because the cruise started at 12:30 and our ticket was scanned at 11:05 3 days ago… so got onboard and because our ticket had expired an hour 10 minutes before boarding they tried to charge us €40!! After spending €160 for the Gozo tour (which was not worth the money) and the bus tour we said we weren’t paying it and got off. My top tip for Malta is the public transport it’s very frequent and can buy a weeks pass for €27 which is unlimited use on any buses. Much better can go further and work to your own agenda. This company is a rip off and absolutely wish we didn’t spend the money we did with them.

• Bad experience, not worth the money

  The bus did not follow the schedule we were given for the tour. The first bus we boarded was completely overcrowded, with no available seats. Later, when it started pouring rain, people from the open upper deck tried to come downstairs, but there was no space since the lower level was already packed with standing passengers. We had no place to sit, and it was unclear how to connect to the tour guide system, as the driver did not have any earphones available. The bus itself was very dirty and had an unpleasant smell. The driver was unable to answer basic questions, such as where we could sit, whether earphones were available, or if anything could be done about the situation. Since we had to stand the entire time, we noticed that the bus was running on reserve fuel, with a constant warning sound indicating it needed refueling. Several warning lights were also on (including brakes and oil). The driver was wearing a raincoat, and there was a transparent sheet placed over the steering wheel because the bus was leaking. At every stop, more people tried to board, but the bus was already full. When they asked when the next bus would arrive, the driver had no answer. Overall, this experience was absolutely not worth the money.

• A disappointing day

  The hop on hop off tour was a total bust. We drove 10 hours bus and could only visit one sight. The remaining 9 hours we had to leave one hotel after another to collect and drop off tourists. The stops could not be visited because the timetables are not right, you drive to every hotel for an hour in a small coastal village and the paths on Malta are just too far for hop on hop off. Overall, a total money and a waste of time....

  We enjoyed our time. If you book, book the first appt of the day so that you have time to hop off at least once to see the sites and again for lunch.
