Sossusvlei
An early start this morning as we head into the heart of the Namib Desert. After a pre-dawn breakfast, we enter the dune field, making our way towards Deadvlei. As we travel, there will be opportunities to take plenty of photos of the dunes as they change colour with the rising sun, before arriving in the 4x4 carpark where we continue the adventure on foot. We hike the 1km across to Dead Vlei where our guide will explain the history of this fascinating area before allowing us the freedom to explore, take photos, climb Big Daddy, the highest dune in the area, or just enjoy the experience of this serene landscape. From here, we make our way across to Sossus Vlei, where the area gets it name, where we can enjoy a snack and a break at the picnic benches under the shade of a tree, a welcome respite from the harsh desert sun. Mid morning, we start to make our way out of the desert, stopping again for photos along the way. We can relax during the heat of the day with a siesta or a swim.
Sesriem Canyon
Late afternoon, we visit the nearby Sesriem Canyon, a small but important landmark in the area as once the only permanent water source for the local people and wildlife. Explore the canyon, climb down and walk along the canyon learning about the geology of the area.

After a short stop, we continue on our journey towards the coast, making stops at the Tropic of Capricorn, Gaub Pass and Kuiseb Canyon, before crossing the desert plains and arriving at Walvis Bay.

Damaraland
Another early start, who said this was a holiday! This morning we head deeper into Damaraland. Our goal this morning is to head off the beaten track, and enjoy a nature drive through the river beds, searching for desert elephants. Namibia (just one of 2 countries in the world) is incredibly lucky to be home to these free roaming elephants that have managed to adapt genetically to survive in these harsh desert landscapes. *Note that sightings cannot be guaranteed
Twyfelfontein
After our morning drive we head back into 'civilisation' and visit the UNESCO World heritage site of Twyfelfontein, home to some of the worlds oldest rock etchings. Etosha National Park
Our journey today takes us into the world renowned Etosha National Park. We enter the park via the western Galton gate, and from there we game drive the full afternoon all the way through to Okaukuejo, our base for the night. The park itself covers 22,270 kms², and gets its name from the salt pan that makes up approximately 23% of the park. Once a massive lake, the Etosha Pan is now mostly dry, with the exception of good rainfall years when the pan fills up enough to become a breeding ground for flamingos that migrate between Walvis Bay and Sua Pan in Botswana. We enjoy a game drive from the park gate, stopping at some popular (animal) waterholes, before arriving late afternoon at our lodge. Tonight we can relax by the floodlit waterhole, an excellent chance to view those creatures that prefer to be active during the cool of the night.

Etosha National Park
Today will be devoted to exploring the park and maximising our chances for amazing wildlife sightings. We start with an early breakfast before heading into the park for a full day of game driving. From Okaukuejo, we will drive from waterhole to waterhole (especially in the winter months), as they support a rich diversity of animals. These waterholes are one of the most unique aspects of Etosha National Park, and a major attraction for wildlife photographers and animal behaviour experts as the different species of animals, both predator and prey alike, can often be captured (on camera) drinking at the same waterhole. We make our way east across the park, checking in at Halali and then Namutoni before exiting the park late afternoon and arriving at Onguma Private Reserve.

We stayed in Namibia for 13 days in the last week of April and the first week of May 2025. We had two fantastic weeks in Namibia. The trip was well organised by Lark Journeys and the impressions we have gained will be with us for the rest of our lives. We have seen a lot of land in such a short time, especially the wildlife. Everywhere we went, we met friendly people. Claire from Lark Journeys not only superbly looked after us in the months before the trip, but was also always available for us in Namibia.

I knew that the Namibia was a wonderful country but our trip was made unforgettable by the kindness and professionalism of Claire who during the organization was able to respond to my every request and by the sympathy and expertise of Abel, our guide / driver prepared and always available. The organization was impeccable, from airport transfers to high quality lodge accommodations! Namibia still has so much to offer and I will definitely know who to rely on when I decide to return!!

The 10-Day Discover Namibia Small Group Safari itinerary is a great introduction to Namibia, and Lark Journeys offers an enjoyable experience. Communication with Claire throughout the entire booking process was easy and quick. She answered every question I had. Everyone at Lark Journeys is welcoming, dedicated, and passionate about what they are sharing about the country to their customers. Upon arrival, everything went smoothly with comfortable and unique lodgings and a good balance of daily activities with long driving distances. Michael, the guide, was very informative and easy going; I learned a lot from him and others throughout the trip.

Claire of Lark Journeys was prompt and efficient in replying to our enquiries and customizied a 12-day tour for our grou of 26. The tour guide, Abel, was knowledgeable and did an excellent job. The driver, Rudolph, took good care of us driving long hours most days. The accommodations are of high standard. The dinner buffets were tasty with lots of food options. We started with an afternoon game drive into the Kalahari Desert, saw eland, gembok, springbok, oryx, giraffe and wild wildlife. The tour ended with drinks and snacks and a beautiful sunset desert view. We also visited the Namib Desert and the famous Dune 45 and Dead Vlei. In Swakopmund, we had a quad bike ride along the scenic coastal desert which was fun and exiting. In Damaraland, we had the chance to see the elusive desert elephants. Namibis is one of just two countries in the world (the other Mali) where the elephants have specially adapted to harsh desert environments. We had 2 nights in Etosha West and saw many zebras, giraffes, wildebeasts, springboks, lions and white rhinos. There is a waterhold next to the Okaukuejo Camp. We went to the waterhole after dark and saw 2 families of 3 each white rhinos. The male rhinos had fights right in front of us. This was a truly a memorable experience. All in all, the tour was excellent and we totally enjoyed it. Thanks to Claire, Abel and Rudolph!

We loved every bit of our Namibian experience through Lark Journeys - expertly arranged by Lark owners Claire and Greg. We were greeted in Windhoek and taken to our first night where we fed the giraffes while enjoying high tea. We flew to each one of destinations - Sossusvlei, Swakopmund, Damaraland and Etosha. Each one a very different but amazing experience. All the accommodation chosen by them was outstanding as were the activities at each location. For a carefree holiday in Namibia we would highly recommend using Lark Journeys!

Lark Journeys allowed us to experience an adventurous, fascinating and comfortable tour at the same time. He knew how to organize everything perfectly in 4 days in high season! Always available and always comprehensive, he is a serious tour operator, who has satisfied us beyond our expectations. He defined an excellent route, found an excellent hotel, excellent private excursions, a perfectly equipped vehicle for the fatigue of the tour, an indispensable SIM card as well as all the necessary advice during the tour. All at reasonable prices. We just had to have fun! Super recommended!
