Our 10-day Ultimate Ireland small group tour with Overland Ireland exceeded every expectation—it was truly one of the best travel experiences I’ve ever had. From start to finish, the tour hit all of the iconic locations you hope to see in Ireland, along with several lesser-known, hidden gems that made the journey even more special. The itinerary was outstanding—well-paced, engaging, and filled with unforgettable experiences. The 10 days flew by because every single day brought something new and incredible. The Aran Islands were a personal highlight—absolutely breathtaking and an experience I’ll never forget. Traveling in a small group of just 13 people made a huge difference. It kept us nimble, avoided the delays of large tour buses, and allowed flexibility to adjust timing when it made sense. It also created a great group dynamic—we genuinely connected with others on the trip, which added so much to the overall experience. What truly made this trip exceptional, however, was our guide and driver, Pat O’Mara. Pat is simply phenomenal. He masterfully balanced a group of different personalities and interests, keeping everyone engaged and included throughout the trip. His knowledge of Ireland—its history, culture, and local stories—is outstanding. He shares it in a way that is both informative and incredibly entertaining. And just as important—his wit and humor are unmatched. Pat kept us laughing throughout the entire trip, bringing energy and personality to even the longest travel days. His storytelling and quick humor made every stop, every drive, and every moment more enjoyable. What truly sets Pat apart is how much he genuinely cares. He went far above and beyond—especially for my 80-year-old mother. He made sure she could fully enjoy every part of the trip. From ensuring her hotel rooms were accessible to adjusting pickup and drop-off points, he consistently put in extra effort to make things easier for her. One moment that truly stood out: Pat personally helped her climb a spiral staircase at Ross Castle so she wouldn’t miss out on the experience. That level of care meant everything to us. By the end of the trip, Pat wasn’t just our guide—he was a friend. His connection with our group was that genuine. At the end of the tour, my mom said, “I am going to miss Pat!”—and that says it all. Pat made this trip unforgettable. I cannot recommend Overland Ireland highly enough—and if you have the chance, absolutely request Pat O’Mara. You will be in incredible hands. Be prepared to fall in love with Ireland—especially the breathtaking beauty of County Clare. It truly feels like a utopia.

We had the absolute pleasure of spending 10 days touring Ireland with Overland Ireland and Conor O’Sullivan as our guide, and we could not have asked for a better experience. Conor’s deep love for his home country came through in every story he told, every scenic detour he suggested, and every local recommendation he shared. His sense of humor kept us laughing every day, and he struck the perfect balance between fun, warmth, and professionalism. What stood out most was how thoughtfully he planned each day for our group. He anticipated our needs, adjusted the pacing when we needed a quieter day, and always seemed to know the right hidden viewpoint, café, or village stop that made the trip feel truly personal rather than “cookie-cutter.” We learned so much about Ireland’s history, culture, and everyday life, yet never felt rushed or overwhelmed. Thanks to Conor’s expertise behind the wheel and his careful attention to detail, we were able to relax completely and just enjoy the journey, from breathtaking coastal drives to charming small towns and vibrant cities. It genuinely became a trip of a lifetime for us, and Conor was a huge part of that. We would recommend Overland Ireland and Conor without hesitation to anyone looking for an exceptional guide in Ireland.

We were looking for a "taste" of Ireland and this tour delivered! Actually, the tour exceeded our expectations; Overland provided a well planned itinerary to experience beautiful, remarkable Ireland. Mark, our Overland guide and driver was experienced, knowledgeable, and was particularly kind and caring. He clearly loves his country and provided added value to our merry group of travelers. On the road, he was a safe driver and provided just enough narration, answering questions and sometimes adding an unexpected stop to enrich our experience. Mark updated us daily using WhatsApp for schedule details, recommendations for the locations ahead and even added photos he had taken of the group. Lunch stops were made daily but did not interfere with our schedule. For dinner, Mark made a group reservation or we could dine on our own. Overnight accommodations varied from a guest house to a castle; including a hearty breakfast at all locations. Overall we were very satisfied with the expected accommodations, however, there was a change to our Belfast location; still acceptable. Note the differences in accommodations between the Monday and Tuesday tours, they may make a difference in your tour selection. We had to make a few calls to the Overland office, apparently they had an IT issue that interrupted email correspondence. A few other issues were handled by phone and we were satisfied with their response. After spending 5 days in Dublin on our own, we were happy to use Overland for the rest of our Ireland travel. The tour was comprehensive, enjoyable and was led by a caring gentleman who we considered a friend when it was time to depart.

Overland 10 days Ireland. This was our first trip to Ireland and what a fabulous , positive and fun learning experience we had. As husband and wife we shared our trip with 9 other people … a perfect sized group. Right from the outset our guide and driver , Mark , made every one feel welcome and the camaraderie within the group developed quickly. Indeed this was partly due to Mark’s sincere and enthusiastic approach in sharing his knowledge and love of Ireland with all . At all times Mark was professional and perceptive to the interests and needs of the group. Always caring , helpful and good humoured … we could not have hoped for a better person to guide us along our shared travels …even the weather couldn’t dampen our spirits Thank you Mark for helping to make our travel memories in Ireland special .

As a first time visitor to Ireland, this tour offered a great introduction on both sides of the country. Our tour driver/guide, Mark, did a wonderful job, taking us to all the sites. In addition, he also took us to side excursions that were unplanned but greatly appreciated. He booked a couple of group dinners as a way for the entire group to get to know each other. In addition, he also offered dinner suggestions and local attractions in each town we visited. He told entertaining stories about his life in Ireland, which I enjoyed. I appreciated the size of the tour group and I met some amazing people. Thank you, Mark and thank you Overland.

Where to begin… friendliest people on the planet? Yes. Most stunning seaside cliffs and beaches on the planet? Yes. Best tour experience imaginable? Yes! Best travel guide ever? Without a doubt! Traveled to Ireland with my sister in April 2026 not knowing what to expect in the slightest. I don’t know if it was pure luck or divine intervention, but every moment of our tour was pure magic, starting with and due to our guide Conan Sweeny’s smiling face greeting us at our hotel Tuesday morning and every morning thereafter. His enthusiastic knowledge and love of country and heritage is truly infectious, making the tour feel like a music infused big screen adventure. He was always gracious, always helpful, always smiling. This was my first time switching hotels nearly every night, and while it can be somewhat daunting to consider, this didn’t bother me in the least. There is so much Irish history to learn and jaw dropping scenery to see that without this pace we wouldn’t be able to cover important highlights of this super special island nation. The only downfall was there are so many adorable towns, it would have been nice to spend several days in each… but without making is a month long tour, would be impossible. The hotels were all top notch and in convenient proximity to local pubs and restaurants, which Conan recommended in each town. We chose pubs, all seem to serve traditional Irish dishes (nom nom), and always feel like home. Again, another tip of the hat to the friendly Irish people! Make sure to take advantage of the full Irish breakfast every day! I cannot begin to try to select one or two highlights or towns to gush over, but the stonework of various castles, forts, homes and even fencing was prevalent as a reminder to the thousands of years the tough and persistent Irish people called this gem home. Ireland captured a huge piece of my heart, but gave back so much in exchange. My most treasured Irish souvenir is a song shared by Conan… Paul Brady’s rendition of “The homes of Donegal.” If I want to return, I simply play this and am swept back into the magic.

Our 10-day trip to Ireland was absolutely spectacular from start to finish! A huge part of what made the experience so memorable was our tour guide, Mark; he was truly fantastic, providing insightful knowledge and ensuring every detail was handled perfectly. Additionally, our small group of 11 travelers worked wonderfully well together, creating a friendly and cohesive atmosphere that made the journey even more enjoyable. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough!

It is an excellent way to see Ireland. The small bus lets you go where the big buses cannot. The accommodation was unique including castles. The food was above average. The drivers were great and the commentary was good. Andrew and Barry were a good team . We saw a good overview of Ireland. We also spent two days before the trip in Belfast and toured the Guinness brewery and the epic museum. We used the hop on hop off bus. Barry graciously arranged for us to meet a commercial farmer after the trip since we wanted to do that because we farm. After driving around the island and observing the bus drivers I felt very confident renting a car and touring myself around for an additional three days. Even the one way curvy roads were fine after experiencing 11 days being driven around. Driving was not recommended by a few friends and family but it was easy after the driftwood trip. Our own vehicle allowed us to find the homestead that my wife's ancestors left in 1842. Some of the places we stayed are in the pictures below

From beginning to end, this tour exceeded every expectation. Our guide, Hugh, was the perfect blend of knowledgeable, humorous, courteous, and incredibly intuitive. He quickly picked up on our group’s interests, energy level, and travel style, and thoughtfully tailored parts of the experience to fit us perfectly. Every question was met with insight, enthusiasm, and genuine care — a true class act. The itinerary itself was outstanding — a wonderful balance of iconic highlights and lesser-known hidden gems that turned out to be some of the most fascinating experiences of the trip – a true credit to our fantastic guide! The accommodations were exceptional and beautifully varied, from a castle elegance to charming historic properties to modern inner-city luxury, each one memorable in its own way. This was far more than a tour; it felt like a thoughtfully curated experience designed specifically for our group. Truly unforgettable.
