Arrive in Kisoro District either by road or air travel. If traveling from Kampala or other major cities, it’s advisable to start early as the journey can take several hours and if you're coming from Kigali it should be less than 4 hours. Plan to reach by Mid-Morning so you can engage in some activities and sightseeing adventures on Lake Mutanda. These can include canoeing and visiting the Batwa Community who are the Indigenous group inhabiting the slopes of the mountain Muhabura

Early Morning Start: After an early breakfast at the lodge, you will be driven to the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park headquarters for a briefing by park rangers. This briefing covers safety protocols, hiking routes, and what to expect during the climb. Hiking Experience: The hike up Mount Muhabura typically takes between 4 to 5 hours to reach the summit. Hikers are encouraged to take their time, enjoy the scenery, and make use of resting points along the way. The trail is steep and requires good physical fitness. Summit Exploration: Once at the summit (4,127 meters above sea level), hikers can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape and possibly spot various wildlife species such as golden monkeys or mountain gorillas. Descent and Return: After spending some time at the summit for sightseeing and photography, hikers will descend back down to the starting point.
