A short hiking tour for beginners and families in the famouse Wachau, which was inscribed as "Wachau Cultural Landscape" in the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites in recognition of its architectural and agricultural history.

The use of mountain boots is strongly recommended
In winter time sometimes additional equipment (snow chains, snowshoes) is needed. We will inform you accordingly!
You have to be free from vertigo and safe over steep terrain (sure footedness)
Due to uneven surfaces, this tour is not possible for those with walking disabilities or using a wheelchair

What To Expect
A mountain hike in a surprisingly beautiful and quiet part of the Wachau. This is an original and lonely part of the Wachau. The Danube so close and so far away from tourism, this region presents itself from its most beautiful side. A barely known path leads upwards between surreal rock formations, the blue ribbon passes underneath us. Here we experience the beauty of nature, as it is rarely found. At the Seekopf itself, a shaky lookout tower awaits us, whoever dares to go up will be rewarded with the corresponding view. What moves us to offer this hike? The ascent takes place via a weak step between rock formations, sure-footedness and vertigo are important. Technically, it is not all that hard. Scenic is one of the most beautiful spots, which we know in the Wachau. Predicate: valuable!

Michael Led a Great Hike

5.00During the drive, Michael was patient while I practiced my German, which was nice for me. He meanwhile made sure to point out various landmarks, and knew the names and what they were for (castles, monasteries...). When we got to the hike, it was more challenging than my friend expected, but Michael had a set of hiking poles that he was able to lend. There were lizards, rocks to climb on if you wanted to, and excellent views of the Danube. He also took lots of pictures, then sent a Dropbox link to get them, an added nice touch. After the hike, Michael didn't have anything scheduled, so he also offered to take us on an added tour through a nearby castle. He then walked us through, translating signs and discussing some Austrian history. We got lucky with his schedule, so it likely wouldn't happen every time, but it really made things great. I'd do it again.
