What To Expect
Your local friendly guide will pick up you at your downtown area in Shanghai, travel to the local private artist workshop in the local community in Pudong. Upon arrival, your fun cultural experience begins, immerse yourself in the impressive arts and get the artistic inspiration from the workshop. Follow the guidance of your expert teacher,gain the knowledge of the famous four Chinese treasures: ink, brushes, paper and ink stone, get ready to learn the famous traditional Chinese painting, also known as “ National Painting”, one of the oldest art form in the world, It uses "Shui Mo" (water and ink) and is also a freestyle technique created by using a brush dipped in ink and water, and onto rice paper. Your teacher is an art expert and also well respected in traditional art field. With the careful guidance, create your own unique art by using genuine Chinese tools; you'll learn different brush strokes, as well as get a solid introduction to the oriental materials, tools, and painting subject. 5.00Eric did a fantastic job getting us to the artists’ residence and translating throughout the whole experience. This experience wouldn’t have been possible without his assistance. The individual instruction from the artist was definitely appreciated. The lesson went through a practice before working on the take-home copy. The lesson pace was perfect for the beginner. I thoroughly recommend this as a unique experience while in Shanghai!

The art teacher, Ms. Zhang, walked me through a few exercises to practice the building blocks of linework and building petals using a Chinese brush. We then worked on the final painting of a beautiful Chinese rose on rice paper. Ms. Zhang was very kind and thorough. The lesson took place in her studio with her lovely terrace garden. I learned so much to apply to my own artwork & am thrilled with the beautiful scroll painting I took home!

5.00My husband and I had the best time taking this Chinese art class with Ms. Chang in Shanghai. Lucy picked us up from our hotel and stayed as our translator throughout our class. We learned how to paint a Chinese flower following step by step along with our art teacher. It was such a lovely way to spend a morning away from the hustle and bustle of Shanghai city. If you’re ever in Shanghai, looking for a very special and unique experience, with a great souvenir to take home, this is a great choice!
