Arromanches-les-Bains
INCLUDED IN OPTIONS: 2-HOUR BRITISH SECTOR – HALF DAY – FULL DAY Your driver will take you to Arromanches-les-Bains. It was on this beach that, during the Battle of Normandy, immediately after D-Day on June 6th, 1944, the Allies established Mulberry B, a temporary artificial harbor designed to allow the landing of heavy equipment without having to wait for the capture of deep-water ports such as Le Havre or Cherbourg (Cherbourg-en-Cotentin since 2016). Although located in the center of the Gold Beach landing zone, Arromanches was spared the worst of the fighting on D-Day. To enable the rapid installation and proper functioning of the harbor, it was essential not to damage the beach and to preserve the surrounding communication routes. British troops therefore landed farther east, between Asnelles and Ver-sur-Mer, and liberated Arromanches by land on the evening of June 6th. The harbor was put into service on June 14th.

Top notch. This is the way to experience Normandy. Our two pilots did a stupendous job of navigating/informing/entertaining.

Remi is a great tour guide. He is well acquainted with the history of the Second World War and can answer all the questions about landing on the beach. Many of the stories he tells are not necessarily connected if you look at photos and text on your own. He immediately indicated what was going on there and so on. He also pointed out that the name of the emergency rescue troops inscribed in a stone in the sea is where the US military hid the wounded in subsequent emergency rescue, where the German soldiers were buried, etc. He is also very interesting and often has interesting descriptions. Motorcycle rides in the field, and it feels very wild. After the countryside and cottage, etc, it feels completely different from riding a private car. Items of value, absolute recommendation

Remy!!! A fabulous fact-filled tour of Normandy’s D-day beaches with stops at so many interesting extras - Remy knows his history, knows the area, and knows the landmarks complete with tiny details. Even in the cold and rain, our motorcycle and sidecar adventure was the perfect way to see and experience history. 10 out of 10 - highly recommend!!

This tour is a unique experience, for sure! The roads traveled to Omaha Beach were through pretty countryside. Bring a scarf for your neck and face because the wind is quite chilly while riding on the motorcycle. Remy and Philip were excellent guides with interesting information about D-Day and the cemeteries. Highly recommended.

We are return customers of this company after enjoying a 2 hour tour last year in Honfleur. We really wanted to experience the Normandy WWII history the same way. We opted to do the full day tour. We spent the day with Remi. He was fantastic, he really knew his history and took the time to explain things in detail to us. He was so kind and funny and answered all our questions, I was so impressed by how much he knew! We saw so much in such a short time, while also having plenty of time to take it in and enjoy the day. One thing to note: when we booked for the first time I was worried about myself and my husband on this motorcycle situation because we are both tall. My husband is a big guy, like 6'2" football player big. We were both comfortable the whole day, the sidecar is very spacious and I actually ended up riding on the back of the motorcycle for most of the day comfortably! They provide the helmets and gloves. Note we did this in late November: we got lucky with a beautiful day but definitely recommend layering up for warmth! This is such a fun experience, I would recommend to anybody wanting to really get to see the D-Day beaches and learn the history along the way!
