Arromanches-les-Bains
INCLUDED IN OPTIONS: 2-HOUR BRITISH SECTOR – HALF DAY – FULL DAY Your driver will take you to Arromanches-les-Bains. It was on this beach that, during the Battle of Normandy, immediately after D-Day on June 6th, 1944, the Allies established Mulberry B, a temporary artificial harbor designed to allow the landing of heavy equipment without having to wait for the capture of deep-water ports such as Le Havre or Cherbourg (Cherbourg-en-Cotentin since 2016). Although located in the center of the Gold Beach landing zone, Arromanches was spared the worst of the fighting on D-Day. To enable the rapid installation and proper functioning of the harbor, it was essential not to damage the beach and to preserve the surrounding communication routes. British troops therefore landed farther east, between Asnelles and Ver-sur-Mer, and liberated Arromanches by land on the evening of June 6th. The harbor was put into service on June 14th.

This sidecar tour was a priceless memory we will talk about for a long time. Remy’s presentation was outstanding. From prioritizing the tour from the start; to coming equipped with everything to make our ride enjoyable; to his deep knowledge and understanding of each aspect of the D-Day invasion, he nailed it. In our 4 hour tour he covered the Allies’ preparation, the movements of that fateful day as well as the days after June 6th. He led us to places not the average tourist would visit and guided us into a deeper understanding of D-Day.

Fabulous! Solo traveler, did the 7 hour tour with Remi. It was one of the best tours I have ever done. It rained off and on but we zipped all over the French countryside with our raincoats, helmets and visors. I feel like I saw everything I had on my list. Remi was like a walking encyclopedia! He answered all of my questions and told me all kinds of things I had never heard or read about D Day and the days that followed. I am eager to return home and dive deeper into the details of this incredible period in our history! I highly recommend Remi, and the 7 hour tour with Retro Tour. It is definitely worth the cost.

Wow, amazing, stunning, and iconic is the only way to sum up my day. This was by far the best and will be the most memorable tour. Remi took me on a seven hour tour and exceeded my expectations. Classic ride, great driver, covered a lot of ground, and Remi really knows his history. It felt like I was hanging out with a friend. To say I highly recommend is an understatement.

Wear warm clothing if you go in October! Other than that, enjoy yourself and ask questions of the tour guides. They are very knowledgeable

Amazing experience! Thomas, Philippe, and Remi were wonderful guides. This was our first trip to Normandy and I think this is the perfect way to see many of the sites. The sidecars are very fun - the guides are also extremely knowledgeable regarding the history you get to see. Would recommend this to anyone!
